Flew into Amsterdam from Zurich yesterday on Swiss. Huge cheer and clapping on landing. Thought nothing of it as it wasn't a 'bad' flight. Second officer gets on and announces the captain has just completed her last flight to become a fully certified Airbus pilot! Even bigger cheer! But the biggest cheer was after the same announcement in German! Meet her on the way out..very young petite lady with a huge smile on her face!

Bit windy in PER tonight - looks like QF767 went around and TT421 went around and looks to be heading up to GET!

Had a tub of yogurt with brekkie this morning. It was only when I had finished that I noticed the "Best before" date: 15th Dec 2015 . No, er, consequences.

(Yes, I know "best before" is not the same as "use by", but its still a pretty good outcome for a dairy product.)

Yogurts and cheeses you are mostly safe..... They are already full of bugs ( good ones).

Cheers

Not necessarily all good.Soft cheeses are known at times to harbour Listeria even when in date.
And I have no desire to try Formaggio Marcio which contains the maggots of the cheese fly.

The wife is very aware of the L word currently, 35 weeks down and on a low-listeria diet in hospital isn't fun...

The word "mostly" was used therefore meaning it's not a blanket statement saying ( 100%)completely safe. There is always some risk involved. Like driving to the airport. It's safer to fly.

Happy new year may it be 100 % Listeria free and maggot free. I did once eat a sandwich however full of maggots.

Not sure what would be worse for your digestive tract; yoghurt two weeks beyond "best by", or one of the Qantaslink breakfast muffins regularly served PER-PHE a few years back, that had a best before date of mid-2018... the sort of chemicals used to keep a moist baked good edible for 3 years in a sealed package does not bear thinking about.

Ever had a look at river water in Mexico? I do hope the lime slice neutralizes anything left after filtration when they make Corona beer. After NYE we have some left over.
