I survived MIL dinner... She is not a fan of me and spoke about 10 to 20 words to me so it was ok

Domestic flight. Lady in front of me just refused to do the walk through metal detect because "I'm pregnant". FFS!

Still good on her for not accepting the advice of someone with a sunburnt neck (i.e. me) that there are no x-rays involved.

Fixed the spelling for you.

Always thought that the spewie made me dyslexic!

I wish that more people could value their spouse's mother (and father) as someone to be valued rather than as an adversary in life. But of course it cuts both ways.

I thought I had a great MIL - but she, and the FIL, have not made a single attempt to contact me in the >2 years since my divorce. Blood, as they say, is thicker than water.

Another area my MIL was great-after her son divorced his ex wife remained part of the family and came to all family events, especially Christmas.
Religion was also a sign of her practical ways with each child baptised at the closest church.Very ecumenical.

I understand. Divorce creates issues. Have you considered they might find it disloyal to their daughter? if they contacted you, even if they held you in high regard. Perhaps things got difficult in the end.

I'm assuming that you however have kept the lines of communication open?

Love my MIL! We've taken her on 8 OS holiday... including F return SYD-LHR.

I love my MIL. We took her on one O/S trip. I want to keep loving her, so no more joint O/S holidays planned. ..... Mind you "Her indoors " is going away with her to Vietnam for 3 weeks in March. :-)

Winter killed number one Mango tree attempt in Adelaide. Now it looks like number 2 has been drowned (not blaming house sitter, but we've been away for a week). :(

hopefully bills dont include too many status runs

That is just the bills to keep the roof over our heads. No real status runs for me, flying weekly for work. Even if I might travel on the basis of minor justification.

I was just noting the colloquially accepted spelling. ;) You might have been technically correct according to the dictionary.

Doesn't it annoy anyone that BM on Ch7 still can't pronounce the name of the five tines winner of the Australian Open and world's number one player?

Not really.i get used to Aussie presenters mispronouncing names such as the ABC newsreader talking about storms in R Kansas.
