Every so often on Flyertalk you find some posts that are classics.

For those who think they've seen everything...

For those who don't have FT accounts, (where have you been)

AA flight 102 last night from HNL to DFW, a guy wore his inflatable life jacket the entire flight (and this was in first class).

The flight attendant said that after 32 years, she thought she had seen everything.

EA and I decided to fly first to Venice on EK but only book economy on the way back just in case we needed a return ticket for entry. We dont need F return as we had no intention of returning

We were 'home alone' in the office at the time and thought we would just text the rest of the crew from the airport.
And I thought my posts were cryptic. Reference to a movie or you finding a small sum of money mysteriously appear in your account and thinking of doing a runner? EA? Executive Assistant?

Some reason can't view that page.

You do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

  1. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
  2. This forum may require additional account pre-requisites that you don't current have. Check the Announcements for this forum to see if you're required to have a minimum number of posts already, etc.
  3. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

$97,000 is plenty enough for me to play with when it is unexpected. And Yes to the runner and yes to the EA. Not Secretaries anymore.

Seems like 60 minutes got a get out of jail free card...

60 Minutes: Crew's anguish led to personal charges over child abduction being dropped, Ali Elamine claims

Shame, they deserved to be punished.

They paid a massive bribe for the civil charges to be dropped.

Now an interesting scenario, they've been released on bail for the criminal charges and left Lebanon. If they don't return they may be tried and convicted in abstentia. A criminal conviction may hinder future travel prospects and possibly problems in other areas of their life.

I reckon this story has a bit of life in it yet.

As for the kidnappers (let's use the correct term here) well they've done it before and will do it again. Time for some serious punishment to be dished out.

You're right...they were there for just commercial gain.

One would suspect that they were the ones who did the actual kidnap and alleged assault of the Grandmother. Whereas allegedly, 60 minutes just financed the operation.

And none of it would have happened without that finance. Which makes them the king pin.

The greater shame is the abductor team has been hung out to dry.

Yeah, don't wrong about the children who'll never see their mother again. Don't worry that the father is a kidnapper. Don't worry that the daughter faces a life of servitude. just focus on the big issues.
I'm sickened.

Yeah, because 60 minutes isn't trying to make money.

Meanwhile, the children who according to the father wanted to go home to Australia come off this very much 2nd best. He thinks he is shielding his children from this, but parents need to keep in mind that children grow up and they may not think that what he has been instrumental in dealing has been at all noble, and that it probably ensures that they will never come home until whatever Lebanese male centric law allows them a passport. History will all be there on film.

Without defending the father he didn't kidnap the children. The mother allowed them to travel to Lebanon with an assurance they would later return to Australia. He reneged and refused to return them, but never kidnapped them. A reprehensible act but not kidnapping.

I suspect you're correct about the future of the daughter.
