[-]I can almost 100% guarantee that it's because someone has put in 8 hour days for me instead of 10 hour days.[/-] I was wrong, they just decided not to enter a day in the timesheet.
As a fixed roster worker, i.e. office hours, there is little need to enter a timesheet for me. Sure 98% of our employees are on shift, I guess it makes sense to stuff around the other 2%.

Same thing happened in one of my previous jobs. When they left the payroll person alone to do her job, pay was perfect. When they got HR and a second person involved, my pay was wrong every second fortnight, and HR was "too busy" to pay me the weeks pay they owed me when she stuffed up.

Seems to be the way most companies operate at the moment, you can save money with less staff.

That staff member is still employed, just he's been moved elsewhere and no longer looks after us. (well formally anyway)

Went to the theatre tonight and saw The Lion King on my last night in London. The number of scumbags who couldn't survive five minutes without checking their phone is amazing.

The person next to me received a curt 'stop it' from me when I decided I'd been annoyed enough. He did and then left the second the curtain came down.

And it isn't just the young things who can be annoying. Similarly annoying we forked out $$$$ to see Andrea Bocelli a few years ago. People were told - no cameras. The woman next to me decided that didn't apply to her. Not only did she use her bright light LCD camera but she kept leaning over me to do so leaving me with a bright square to look at. Not wanting to make a fuss I let it go - the first half was very operatic anyway so not all that interested.

After interval he started singing his well known songs. And she started humming and singing along. Awfully. Very loudly. Enough. Told her to just Stop it. Thankfully she did but then glared at me the rest of the night. Like I cared. And when everyone stood for the ovation, she sulked and didn't get up. Stupid cow. Her couple companions were I expect very pleased a stranger told her to zip it so they didn't have to.

Interesting that they both behaved petulantly after being told off.

I wonder how companies measure their service?.
When you ring a customer service number, your phone gets answered almost immediately. However you are then forced to listen to a computer and asked to go through a menu. Eventually you get to speak with a real person but only after waiting for a variably long time.

I would not be surprised that you call then was measured by the time it was initially answered

Actually I started working in !963 during school holidays. £7 a week as a lawnmower man working for the man.
Saw our moderator Straitman wanted to know about the best cruises. The girl I married really knows how to be seasick so we fly, drive or go by train.

Definitely needs a good ironing board and iron.

Like I needed in Hilton Perth. I commented that the height of the ironing board was suitable for a shorter stature person, but not me @ 6' 3" (185cms for those challenged by the imperial measurement). The reply:

Sorry for any issue with the ironing board; I can understand your frustration.

Seeing that I am actually 6' 1" (185cm), I find it a bit worrying someone who deals with numbers everyday mucked up his conversion? Your are about 190 cm QF WP.

Could I interject and similarly argue that as a fat man, my shirts are nominally larger (or at least wider, not taller) than most, resulting in usually requiring three turns when ironing the back of the shirt (rather than two, viz. left and right side), means that I still spend longer than most ironing shirts. :) Pants could be similarly arguable.

Interestingly, my father, who is one of the most meticulous people I have ever met when it comes to ironing clothes, irons whilst sitting down. I, however, prefer to iron standing up.

You don't deal too much with words everyday, do you? ;) *ribbing*

Not really, I take about 4 moves of the back of the shirt. More turns is, perversely, quicker because you don't waste time on perfect positioning.
Hanging shirts directly onto coat hangers from the washing machine is another way to minimise creasing. Used that this week and let body heat do the rest.

Chinese Steel Tax in US on cold - rolled steel as many have been laid off in the USofA. The cruising business is really taking off 2. Size of about 15k double Decker buses, Worlds largest cruise ship longer than the Eiffel tower in Paris. Suppose to be very environmentally friendly, looks like big iPad on the Captains Bridge. It's called Harmony of the Sea and just arrived into South-Hampton.
