I got the news on the way home and so the first thing I did on getting home was give him a big cuddle. And then he got to have ice cream for dinner! He's getting old for his breed so even the thought of him needing surgery is not great due to the risks involved.

Damn it...I should have cracked a gin.

Just don't feed him chocolate.

Looking at our one night stop over at LAX.

I was trying to figure out how to finally get to In & Out Burger but I see Hilton lounge has canapes 5pm-7pm and desserts 7pm-9pm. How am I suppose to fit dinner in?

The canapes are pretty terrible, I'd stick with the burger run.

The KDR plans that we have fallen in love with is a split level home, only 6-8 steps to deal with for each level so long term/age not an issue.

Hubby has declared the entire top floor will be Hubby-Land. Up there will be 3 bedrooms, full bathroom, living room, balcony with skyline view and study nook and he wants one living room wall painted with a Jimi Hendrix inspired mural for his guitar racks to hang from the walls.

Then he said hes going to get a velvet rope to close off the stair entrance to Hubby-Land.

Hes taken man cave to a new level.
KDR?

we don't feed our dogs chocolate (or grapes etc). However one Christmas our miniature Dachshund jumped onto the chair, onto Dr FM's desk and then jumped up until he managed to pull all the chocolate gifts she had purchased for various family members off the top shelf. He then tossed them onto the carpet, so the other Dachshund could share the spoils and they consumed almost all of it - a Darrel Lea chocolate covered nougat pudding defeated them. We reckon close to a kg each, or nearly 20% of their body weight, with no ill effects. Not the only time they managed to help themselves either. He lived until nearly 16, so at least 5 years after the orgy

Living with a friend and his dog stole and consumed 2 King Size blocks of chocolate from the bench - including a dark choc one. He was a 9kg dog. He suffered no ill effects aside from a rather explosive rear end, just as I happened to be walking him and on the pavement and there was not much I could do about it...(I ended up grabbing nearby bark chip and covering it).

EEw - fortunately we didn't even notice that effect. I once had a huge fight with my brother after he accused me of taking his block of chocolate from next to the bath he was running. After a rip roaring fight we found our dog with the block between his paws gnawing away.

Lucky the dog didn't steal the bath as well, eh?

Yep, Knock Down & Rebuild. AKA, I must be insane to do this
all building is insanity (having built 2 and done a large extension), even when you have a good builder it is amazing how things slip through. Our current house is a KDR - it was the only way to get what we wanted in the suburb we wanted to live in. We were fortunate enough that we had our own house to live in, while we went through the exercise, so it wasn't all that different to buying another house. We did end up seling our house and then it took longer to finish so we just moved in and they finished it around us!

Miss FM is going to do a KDR at some point. She has a tiny house on a 900m2 block and they are looking at extending, but all in all it looks like starting again will have a better outcome.

That old story about the riskiest time for travel is the taxi trip home happened to us yesterday.

About 200 meters from home and turning off Greenhill Road (a very busy two lane road running east west in Adelaide) for those who know it, into a side street. Taxi driver decides to pick a very small gap to turn across. I wouldn't have picked such a small gap. BUT what he also couldn't see was a cyclist in the bike lane who had been 'covered' by the car just gone past. Was going to hit him and cyclist was naturally gesticulating so taxi stopped - across a lane with truck bearing down now - on me! cough truck driver saw us but did not break as he clearly took the aggressive approach - 'you cut in you deal with it' - but this is a taxi ffs!

Somehow we got through the gap and all the taxi driver said was 'I didn't see the bike'. Yeah, that happens when you try shooting the gaps. You don't see the full picture.

I noticed a neighbour in an adjoining street tear down their Californian Bungalow and replace it with a prefabricated metal box.

I actually like the idea of getting shipping containers welded together and designing something from that but as we live in the burbs, its a bit out there for the area. Damn you Grand Designs for giving me fancy ideas above my station in life.

900m2 block a...e.

Our block is about 860m2 and I begrudge paying for land when already paid off

As others have said hopefully not. You can get five year passports when you're >75 so lots more chances.

As noted previously I submitted my application last Friday and today got the email that it has been completed. It may now take a week to send by registered mail.
