I don't think Germany uses pints, but rather 200ml/500ml/1L measures.

It seems that Germany has carried on this tradition for a long time. I have a enamel drinking mug, very oval in shape, grey in colour, with 200ml, and 500ml marks on the outside, dating from WW1 with thanks to my Grandfather; presume that it was for water not beer (bier)........

Cheers Dee

.... or both :!:

I just got Michael Clark out. Turned on the TV to watch Ponting get 200 and immediately had Clark bowled without playing a shot.

I thought you were kidding, so I just maximised the cricket.com.au page I had open - seems you are right

352 run partnership between Captain & vice-Captain. Wonder whether the ABC scorer found out whether that was a record (Australian, as well as world).

Ricky on 199 now. 58 runs to beat his highest Test score

I have to agree with your assessment on Ricky. Similarly, can't stand him - but at least he scored some runs.

He's now out for 209, so well short of his best score

The highest Australian partnership, according to wikipedia, was set in 1934 and is 4th overall.

The Sri Lankan one in 2006 is astronomical.

I suppose it could be a record between a captain and vice captain, but when you start to narrow things down, anything can be a record ;)

Call me un-Australian but with Ricky at the helm, it's another few more years of me supporting every non-Australian cricket team out there ;)

I’m the same, though I don’t share the dislike of Ricky that my dad does, just I respect my first nationality more.

Good article here....still don't know about the C/VC record though.

Seen that one before, but it's still funny whenever I see it (albeit it is black humour).

"Please take care when closing the overhead lockers as the locker door may injure yourself or a fellow passenger."

I note:

However Marcus North's recent struggles continued as he fell for just 21, having now failed to reach 25 in seven of his past eight Test innings to again cast doubt over his place in the side.

While Katich scored just 11 and Watson only 29. And they’re the openers.

Some entertainment for Friday evening

That’s awesome!

Well happily just relieved Pepsi Australia of $250 in cold hard cash for their Hit Refresh promotion. Managed to chase down today's Perth location beating the pants off everyone else looking for it... and successfully frightened the life out of the prize girl (who looked very nice indeed) as I bolted across a shopping centre mall and slammed down on the button.

Went to Malaysia for lunch today, another stamp to the passport.

Aaah, you're off at that SIN thingy aren't you. Was it JB you went to for lunch? Or further afield?

Enjoy the weekend, I'm tempted to schlep my way over for next year's!

And how long do you think Australians are going to support non-Australian cricket teams with Michael Clarke at the helm? Great choice for captain. Not!

And Phillip Highes is the shining light Australia needs in the team?

Not great timing for me as it is only a week after the annual Christmas/New Year trip to Thailand....

Meh. As far as I can see, Australia has hardly sported a good test opening batsman (batsmen, i.e. pair) for a very long time.

Hayden wasn't doing a bad job before he somehow fell from glory overnight. Slater, maybe not too bad. Langer ditto. Apart from that, especially now, our openers suck. Which is why when the higher to middle order batsmen fall too cheaply, you pretty much know Australia is dead.
