The totally off-topic thread

Given all the discussion on scrubs, I asked Dr FM if she still wears scrubs, she said definitely depending on the environment. Apparently whatever rotation she is doing at the moment means she doesn't have to, so is enjoying wearing normal clothes. Given her passion for fashion, I find it hard to believe she would ever wear her scrubs outside the hospital!

I wear mine to and from work on days where I will be having direct patient contact. (These are not Surgical or Theatre scrubs, they are uniform scrubs that we must launder ourselves). It makes zero sense for me to change into or out of my uniform between my house and my workplace. When I will be representing my department or a higher level within health I dress appropriately in business casual or more formal for Court etc.

i am sure you always dress appropriately.

$170Re: The totally off-topic thread

I know the math, I can generate several cents in value out of a point by flying premium; this is generally more than several times the value than if using the point for economy travel.
I can generate several cents in value as well by booking economy flights. A one-way airfare is close to $1000 and I used 21,000 QFF points + ~$170 to book the award flight. I also did this for my wife so I got really good value.

Exactly - so why make a sweeping statement seemingly applicable to all?
Saying that premium travel is the only way to redeem points otherwise you are losing out is wrong. It is a sweeping statement that only applies to some people who can generate enough points to travel in premium cabins. I am not making a sweeping statement. I am stating my opinion which is actually factual in this instance as the best value is up to the individual.

Sick and tired of the constant attacks by some people. Sick and tired of the "subtle attacks" by the same people placing likes on posts such as yours.

I wonder what big news story will hit tonight and tomorrow morning when AFF is down.
AFF will be down for major system upgrade from 9pm AEST tonight (Friday 8 September)
For full details please see my post at: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....jor-aff-upgrade-scheduled-downtime-84840.html
Apologies for any inconvenience.

I guess Saturday will be a good time to be out doing things, maybe watching sport or getting on a plane to earn some miles.

Last time AFF was offline for an extended time, Qantas shut down.

I suspect Sat night hubby will be having one of his few alcoholic drinks per year because we're completing our YR17 return and hes going to get a very large capital gains bill.

I will then spend my evening online to find out whats the best credit card/s to use to pay this to earn points.

There will be tears, all his.

Gotta love passive aggressive and patronising emails from someone who has dumped most of their workload on you :-|

Take some deep breaths and don't do anything rash, BC.:(

I wont, just trundling along getting things done. Though when my boss mentioned that this person had organised a certain large event I did correct him and mention that not only had I organised the whole thing, but it was actually quite a lot of work on top of my usual load.

I don't want the look of AFF to change. I like it the way it is. It runs really well on my PC. I'm guessing if it's made more complicated, it won't run as well. AFF is one of the few sites I can run on my system without running any JavaScript. The only time I need to run scripts is when I leave likes on posts. Running No Script means I only end up with a tiny amount of ads. Running scripts on the pages means things run a lot slower, not better.

There's supposed to be a thread started soon with tips of how to use the new format. If anyone finds it, would they please let me know.

Of course we should not go by looks.
Now if I had to pick, I would overcome my suckerproneness and take the butcher any minute. Even more: I would seek the butcher as a third option if my choice was between two doctors who looked like doctors. Why? Simply the one who doesn’t look the part, conditional of having made a (sort of) successful career in his profession, had to have much to overcome in terms of perception. And if we are lucky enough to have people who do not look the part, it is thanks to the presence of some skin in the game, the contact with reality that filters out incompetence, as reality is blind to looks.

This is all about my want for fried rice.....

Go downstairs to pick up my lunch order of cripsy basil chicken with fried rice. I tell the staff member that Im here to pick up my order with fried rice (because the last two times they stiffed me with steamed rice despite paying extra).

When they bring out the bag I ask again, fried rice? They respond yes but I know they are lying because despite them covering up the container with a napkin and menu, I can see through the bag that its steamed rice.

Me: Let me look at the order please. Staff say, its OK, its fried rice. I lift the napkin and menu they put in there... its steamed rice.

So they take the order away, I wait about 10 more minutes and they bring it out and tell me its fried rice... but again, I CAN SEE IT through the bag.

Me, "There is not a single vegetable in that rice. You added some soy sauce and thats it".

Them: No, this is fried rice.

Me (as Ive eaten there many times and I pick up their menu with pictures): Are you telling me that whats in that container is whats on this plate in your photo? See the vegetables in the fried rice, there isnt a single vegetable in that container, its steam rice with some soy sauce.

Them: No, this (indicates container) is take-away fried rice. That (indicates menu photo) is eat-in fried rice. (WTF?)

I tell them to cancel the order and walk out. I guess I cant go back there again.

So take away fried rice is plain and eat-in has veggies in it? Bizarre and not somewhere I'd return.

Problem is in my complex, I have 3 Indian restaurants (why, no idea as they always seem empty), 1 sushi, 3 cafes and only one Thai. Not even a Chinese restaurant so not much choice.

I get it, fried rice isnt a Thai meal but its on their menu (with photos) and Ive happily eaten their food for years but lately its gone down hill but they have zero competition so they get away with bad service.
