Just had first email notification as a result of coriander's posting to my message. No other email notification though since new platform commenced.

I had a young graduate engineer working for me a few years back.... one day in conversation, she casually remarked she had 32 handbags. When pushed on this, admitted we weren't talking $50 Target one's either... many of these were $4-500 ea. Noticing my middle aged male jaw on the desk, she quipped "You don't want to ask about the shoes that match them then, I suppose...."
I could be in the ball park...... (although you could add another zero onto the $ value  )

Looking through paperwork, the house we sold:

1974, $8075 purchase price
1994, $136K
2017, $830K

Back in 1974, $8K was the average yearly wage.

So it was a pretty cheap house for the day. A house worth an average year's wage was hard to find unless in a smaller country town. Our first house was 6 times my wage in 1974, though the bank didn't count my wage as I was a female.

I am already getting notifications whereas previously I only got them once a week on Mondays.

2 bedroom with asbestos garage of death with housing commission across the road and next door is a good way to describe it.

Glad its off our hands.

I noticed today (did a drive by on way to accountant) that a new house is being built a few houses down so times are a'changing in the street.

I actually just opted to stop getting ALL reply notification emails. It was becoming too much. I pay enough attention to the threads I like to keep up.

I hope.

Yes you do. Look under "what's new' in the main banner.

They moved it? Thanks!

I have friends currently in Florida.

2 have evacuated north. 2 are in the zone and staying, 1 is about 3klms outside the evac zone and staying.

Now we wait.

Anyone else?

I haven't had any notifications either and that's the method I use to keep up to date with my subscribed threads. I only found this thread by following a link from one of yesterday's emails.

My avatar has been lost in the transition process. It was one of the avatars available when I joined AFF so I don't have a copy of it. I guess I should have taken a screen shot of it before the change so I'd be able to remember what it looked like.

Two random guys on my door step, saying they are looking for Filipino families and do we know if there are any in our street.

Me: That's creepy and now get off my property.

Husband: And you say you don't have people skills.

:)

Very Weird. Most Filipinos are Catholics, so maybe born again Christians trying to convert them to some Evangelical churches?

Or trying trying to play them off with some scam?

IIRC politicians and religions are exempt from door knocking laws.

Okay, I just got an email that there was a new post on this thread. I found a section in my profile that showed which of my subscribed threads had updates since the site came back up today.

Some of the old codes are not working now (Strikethrough, Youtube tags etc) and some of the pictures are now just thumbnails.

To quote from the brilliant Italian novel, il Gattopardo, "everything needs to change, so everything can stay the same".:)
