Trying to convince hubby we should get a cat and looking up cat shelters/adoption.

Some of these cats, as I dont want a kitten, have been in care for years and years. So sad.

Denali - I can give you our experience. Mrs Rugby and I both grew up with cats and dogs. Because we both work and travel we didn't want a dog. We adopted a 5 yr old tortoiseshell cat from the Animal Welfare League 8 years ago. She took some settling in and we board her at a very good facility when we travel, and she is a magnificent companion. Highly recommended.

My memory sucks these days

Coles have their Christmas stock on display now.
Yes, DJs has set up their Christmas shop. Far too early for me

I think something along the lines of
You may (very well) say/think that but I couldn't possibly comment.
Possibly referring to me being feeble or old or both :)

So it was a pretty cheap house for the day. A house worth an average year's wage was hard to find unless in a smaller country town. Our first house was 6 times my wage in 1974, though the bank didn't count my wage as I was a female.
Yes I had a similar experience. First time I bought a place (1978), no problem getting a loan in Sydney. Then moved to Melbourne, sold my unit and met Mr FM and we moved back to Sydney in 1980. Wanted to buy a house together and all of a sudden the same financial institution would no longer take my salary into account. All our figures went out the door and all of a sudden we had to really scramble to get a loan. The house we were buying was quite modest 3x my salary and 1.5 x our combined salary. Interest rates went up to over 17% just after we moved in, so just as well we started small :)

Ah. The British version. He was quite nasty.
We bought individual Christmas puddings last week at Coles!
Yep. And quite delicious from memory. I start putting extra brandy in them a few weeks prior....
