A friend boarded his international flight at 5.40am and was still sitting on the tarmac at 7.20. In economy.

I told him that if he listened to me and collected/used points, he could be sitting in his QF pjs, drinking booze but nooooooo, no one listens to me.

Yes no one bothers to listen. Until they really want one and then its too late.
Was asked on the weekend by friend who has QF points apparently.
"Want to book 2 business class classic award seat for a flight to LHR in November....Could not find any"
"A bit late...How many points do you have?"
"Around 50000"
"First ask me how to get to half a million points first"
" I had a million points last year"
"What happened"
" I bought dishwasher and fridge from Qantas"

But I got him and his wife a good Y return on AY via HEL.

"But I dont want to go to HEL"
"Just listen and learn"

Haha!! I could have given him a routing SYD-MEL-SIN-HEL-MAN. Maybe I should have.....

BTW What circuitous routes have people recommended to non FF friends....

I dont mind a lot of connections on the way back but on the way there, its a wing and a prayer that our bags are with us.

We flew SYD>LAX>ATL>SCL>IPC to get to Easter island to max points. Hubby finished his year with enough SCs to gift WP.

Only to family. Circuitous is only necessary because without it there would be no way to go forward. When you have to find seats for two people on the same flights, even worse.

One example: HKG-ICN-IST-CPH-LHR-YEG-YVR-HKG, the bolded ones are the stopovers. The initial one is probably the most painful; the whole thing was in J but the last bits scraping the barrel with AC J was a challenge.

Going via HEL is actually quite useful, particularly NRT-HEL which has plenty of availability in J (JL, not AY). AY J intra-Europe is a different kettle of fish - pretty temperamental on availability. Now that AB is down and out, it does make travel within Europe much more challenging on oneworld.

The reason I have quite circuitous routings is usually to try new premium products, particularly First Class ones.

I was told brakes needed urgent replacement. This was at a centre near MrP’s work. I decided I’d take it to a centre just near home and dropped it off. They called me 30 minutes later and asked why I wanted brakes replaced as they were fine. A few enquiries at MrP’s work found that many had their brakes recently ‘replaced’ at the same servo.
Many years ago had a free car inspection at Midas. Think I was replacing a muffler. Was quoted $600+ as brakes needed replacing but also needed machining.

Went to local mechanic who not only laughed and said drums don't need machining but that brakes were also fine

On the Brissy news tonight there was mention that Qantas had put on 6 extra planes TSV - SYD and they sold out in minutes. The Cowboys have chartered planes as well !!!! :)

As an aside - my husbands car was smashed into today while parked near Flemington. He had gone inside to see a client, Malaysian guy crashed into it at 60km/h It's only 14 months old, hoping it gets written off. Was not the drivers car.

Observation. AFL players do not marry unattractive females.
Some funny comments on news.com.au on the red carpet frou frou. And some very unattractive gowns. When did trains make a come back? Guess it gives a bit of room so people behind can’t come waltzing in when having the red carpet interviews.

Hope everyone is ok.

A friend of mines car was going to get written off but it was 8 to 9 month wait for the replacement vehicle. He decided to get a similar vehicle and they wrote it off. They had to give him a hire car until replacement could be sourced!!!!

At least the guy owned up. Happened to me two years ago and the culprit took off, leaving me to foot the damage bill.

I had someone crash into me a couple of years ago and drove off and thankfully, someone stopped and said they had the rego and was happy to make a witness statement to the police.

I found it more rude that they drove off than actually hitting me.

Everyone should use a dash cam - great device. Im thinking of adding a rear dash camera now as last week I had a guy behind me spending more time on his phone and driving than looking at the road. He would actually drive forward while on his phone.

My parents are looking to purchase a motor home and go traveling around Australia, the bigger size motor homes usually require a special license to drive them. Family on dads side of the family do a lot of extended camping now that they are retired, and over the weekend one of them had an accident and was sent to hospital, one of the sons had to fly out to a remote location and help the other family member drive the car back, my brother said that what ever car my parents end up getting the parents better pay for the updated license to go and fetch their car if anything should happen to either of them.

I was at a set of traffic lights. Old lady in front of me decided to reverse. Lights were still red. She hit me. I pulled off the road when safe and she drove a distance ahead and then pulled over. I started to walk towards her and she drove off! Reported her to the local police station. He checked on the computer and then just groaned. She’s an habitual it seems. They dispatched a police car to go visit her. Damage all sorted via Insurance.
