Cant decide what to do next August. Cooper Pedy because we've never been there before or NZ, so hubby can chase auroras.

Plus: Cooper Pedy = warm days, escape winter.
Con: Snakes

Plus: Always love NZ
Con: Queenstown and Stewart Island in the middle of winter!

Not Coober Pedy. Try Flinders Ranges. PS - snakes are common in Adelaide......

We love Coober Pedy. But then mrsdrron loves opals.
But the Breakaways,Painted dessert,a mailman run but the highlight for us was a flight over Lake Eyre but via the Painted desert, landing at Oodnadatta and Williams creek.Went with this-

Unfortunately cant remember the outfit we did the Painted desert tour with but a real character. It was arranged through the Desert Cave hotel.

Though I hope not in August when Denali was planning. I’d be mighty concerned if they were out that early.
But might be out up north! Just pointing out the death rate from snakes ain’t that high even in Adelaide in summer.

Using a brain is not always compulsory but consequences could be regrettable.

True an early hot spell might bring them out early . I was referring more to Adelaide rather than CP. Would be alarmed to find one there in August.

Thankfully four cars back to see the actual impact but then had to drive past an awful traffic accident where a man had been hit by a truck. All I could do was flash hazard lights to warn traffic to slow down as pedestrians ran to help and call for help. Life threatening injuries I later read.

Sadly he died. Being selfish I am relieved I didn’t see the actual impact. What I saw was enough. Sad times for a family tonight.

The SSSS of Australia-Sharks,Stingers,Spiders and Snakes.Snakes are the least dangerous. You have to be stupid or unlucky to be bitten. Most snakes are more scared of you than you of them.So unless you try and kill or catch them or are unlucky to step on an unseen snake or pick up a log etc that they are under you should not have problems.
So snakes and spiders are not on my fear list.

Making Christmas raffle hampers for a couple of family/friends. Items donated from the company I work for, each worth a couple of hundred dollars.

The people/school that couldn't manage a thank you last year will be told no, if they ask again.

It only takes a letter or email to ensure continued support but it's surprising when you don't even get an acknowledgement.

First time overseas I saw the aftermath of a fatal accident and I when to see if I could help. Saw a dismembered person for the first time and realised I could do nothing. Told my cousins to get back into the car, as their was nothing we could do. Sadly 3 dead. Two brothers and friend, taking out their fathers late model BMW and speeding. They illegally overtook us, were speeding and clipped a Granny who was pulling into the road. Her car was left spinning and their car rolled, hit a solid electrical pole, with the car splitting in two, one end on the road and the back end in the roadside ditch. Even started a small brush fire.

Interesting. Looking online for rings etc and found a gorgeous US site where you can create your own rings, select stone etc and have them shipped for good prices to AUS plus 30 day return policy. So the settings are gorgeous, and just wondered what a 40 year wedding anniversary ring might cost, being ruby. So I select the "anniversary by year' - and the ruby apparently now kicks in at 15 (WT?) and Emerald at 20, that is the longest year you can select?
Brilliant Earth

But that is way better than this 'pick your 40th anniversary gift' where items such as dutch ovens and cutlery are suggested?
