4mm - slightly bigger than the fridge leads themselves.

I pulled out our 4mm cable (from car battery to horse float) some time ago, and replaced with a 2/0 cables (essentially a battery cable) from car battery to a "truck" 350A Anderson Plug at the rear bumper bar. Then 2/0 cables from trailer anderson plug to horse float battery 12V cable. Ever since doing that the double N70 batteries are properly charged. 2/0 cables with soldered crimped lugs supplied by Whitworths Marine.

I could have done it with a 4mm cable to an inverter supplying 240V battery charger but did not want to buy more electronics.

I monitor the Horse float battery voltage and also the Float electric brake breakaway battery backup with a hummingbird wireless battery monitor.

I should say that that 4mm cable is from the second battery to the outlets, a 30cm run. The cable from the main battery to the dual battery controller in the tray is 6mm.

I removed the dual battery controller as well. Landcruiser diesel has dual battery in parallel. Dual battery powering Fridge in horse float is always disconnected from car at the Anderson plug when parked. All 4 batteries in parallel only when car engine running. So no need for dual battery controller - it was more hassle when we had it.
The benefit of the big 2/0 cables is the faster movement of current equalising the charge and voltage across the 4 batteries. The car alternator then sees one battery a low voltage state resulting in a higher charging voltage for longer

My dual battery controller (I believe) prerentially charges the car battery at the expense of the other battery. While the second battery is being charged it will frequently revert to topping up the main battery. Consequently more charging time is spent with the charged main battery than a depleted second battery. Total charging current delivered is therefore less than if the car alternator only “sees” one depleted battery. YMMV

I reckon a simple switch isolating the fridge battery from the car battery when the engine is off does a better job than a dual battery controller. But something else to remember I guess

The second battery is for the two fridges. That way the main battery is kept for running the vehicle.

I am currently assessing how well a peppermint Magnum survives for the next 24 hours. The freezer is running at -10c.
Getting solar panels?

As i'm sure you know, -18 is the temp that most freezers operate, and which "lifespan" of things in there are calculated. So your peppermint Magnum has a shortened life expectancy.

Of course, i've never know ice cream to expire in a freezer - it's consumed WAAAAAYYYY before that.

Went to Apple shop yesterday to get my Iphone looked at, made an appointment time but had to wait; waited almost an hour, I probably should have checked earlier, but got someone who was knowledgeable and was enjoyed her work, had to come back in 3 hours to pick it up.

I think back to my previous apple fault, which was a sim card issue, I might have changed sim cards when traveling through different countries in 2011 which might not have helped, this time it was the camera not focusing properly, well I might have taken over 1,000 photos in 18 months with this phone, the camera is pretty good for something that started as a phone.

When public transport schedules aren't the best then I usually use Uber, but uber doesn't work without the phone. lucky I made the bus when going back to get my phone as the bus I was meant to catch was 10 minutes late,

Now updating the software on the Iphone that seems to be a regular occurrence at the moment.

I remember that day well. We had consultants flying out for work next day - think this happened on a Saturday and I had to spend hours getting all their transport sorted and made sure they knew about all the changes.

Former Australian governor-general Sir Ninian Stephen has died in Melbourne aged 94.

Sir Ninian served as governor-general from 1982 to 1989.

He was also a Justice of the High Court of Australia and Supreme Court of Victoria, served in the Australia Imperial Force (AIF) during World War II and was knighted five times.

An impressive record of public service.

First I found out was about 45 minutes before landing at DFW when the pilot came on to announce the fleet had been grounded.

QF7 was near the last Qantas international flight to depart Sydney that day.

It was a nervous few days as I was due to fly back November 1.

We had been out to dinner.Got back to our Sydney hotel to get that news.Went to email our TA but there was already an email from her with our booking for Tuesday switched to BA to BKK.

I was caught in SYD waiting for a MEL connection. At the QF service desk, after seeing the media briefing. The service desk still hadn't been briefed which wasn't pretty. I dashed over to VA and managed to get a flight home that night but I am sure quite a few others didn't.
