Taking ones LSL and travelling - well I can completely support that decision. Did it in 2011 with wife and 2 kids (18 months and 4 years old). Europe for 7 weeks. Pure bliss

I have permanent LSL coming in December 2027.

My husband is currently on his 18mths of LSL, hes enjoying life.

3 weeks seems to be about my limit before I crave home and the structure that work gives me.

Pity LSL is years away for me; work is making me want to bang my head against a wall right now.

Long service leave in 7m 29d but who's counting.

Finally free if I get to that point.

We're thinking Europe as well.

Wish airline FF programs have long service leave
- they could make anniversary date 2 weeks later for every year SG (after 5 year qualifying period). More for WP and above

I dream of Long Service Leave and see it as highly unlikely I will ever get to the required time. I'm coming up 6 years in my current role and a change is needed. That's the nature of my job though - to stay challenged and engaged and to proceed in seniority, people move roles generally around every 4 years.

I phoned Origin Energy a few days ago to see if I could get on a better plan. Yes sir you are on a good plan.
Today I received an email from Origin Energy.

Hello Bundy,

Thank you for choosing Origin for your electricity. We've reviewed your account and noticed you could be on a better deal.
We've made our latest plan super easy - with an ongoing, guaranteed discount. Plus the discount applies to your usage and supply, so you'll pay less compared to your current plan. And you don't have to worry about renewing your contract as the discount is ongoing.
WTF.

I also phoned MLC today what a waste of time that was, so I sent in a form with some missing details, no they couldn't be bothered to ring me back and say there is a problem, no they will post a letter.

And in more bad news.
Our current General Manager is now off work for the next few weeks, medical reasons, which aren't good, pity their long service leave isn't for another 8 months, 9 weeks holiday and similar amount in sick leave, has been healthy up until now.

Long day at work; because it seems some people won't want to take no for an answer.

Yikes. It’s 6am in Bali and just got up to the bathroom and we had an earthquake. Bathroom shaking from side to side. I’m in darkness as I don’t like to turn lights on to bother MrP. Just going online to see what’s up!

Had a shock at the accountants yesterday.

The stupidity in our tax law never ceases to amaze me. My capital gain is treated as income tax. It has pushed my income over $250,000 for the 2016-2017 tax year.

I have to pay ~$1800 budget repair levy. What the hell is this levy? And I lost my $634/year health rebate. And I have to pay ~$3100 Medicare levy on my capital gain.

This isn't paying fair share of tax. Some may see that as fair but it's ridiculous beyond comprehension. Just as well I budgetted more for capital gain tax and I am going to be ~$8000 better off than my rough calculation.

My new motto is going to be lie, cheat and steal where possible. I saw a section on foreign income. I laughed. Like I'm going to declare foreign income so I can pay 49c in the $ tax for my hard work. Get stuffed.
