Irrespective the multi million dollar toys they gave us were a lot of fun and gave us some tremendous abilities to help the community.

Also many of those with 'broken brains' have gone onto to do some great things.
I didn't imply a broken brain but broken in like a horse or like some other herd animal to be compliant.

Nevertheless both portray an image that for many who know members of the military would say is completely untrue on an individual and collective level

I know one who is a also highly respected surgeon who is not only a very competent surgeon, he sits on several advisory boards and committees. I would say his brain is neither broken nor is he a compliant sycophant.

Let us not not forget the abuse medical staff who have endured because that it was the way it was. Do we have to bully and and prod our best to learn by that method

It looks like you are talking off in tangents here and/or have an axe to grind or have an agenda.

Beyond the isolated case and which is certainly no more prevalent than in the general community, I know of no one who was bullied or prodded as you put it and I have trained and trained with brand new recruits through to the various Chiefs of Defence Force.

Again those with direct connections to people in both defence and medical would not agree. Bullying occurs everywhere but is not necessarily more pervasive nor is it distinctive feature/culture in the 2 institutions.

For the past few years, I donate a little extra at Christmas to help out, stories like these reminds me how easy I have it. Kids asking for a blanket or something for lunch shouldnt happen.

Love What Matters

Yesterday I was told a parcel for major event is missing (since Nov 1st, why tell me now!), people are flying in from London for this. Cue upset.

Me: Listen, what we do, no one dies. This can be fixed.

Today, all fixed.

Why don't captains apply the same rule to cargo as they do late passengers??

T+3 minutes, welcome on board from the flight deck 'the doors are closed, we're all ready to go here... passengers on the right of the aircraft will notice there's a few more pallets to be loaded. It'll only take five minutes'

T+25 minutes 'they have one more pallet to go'.

Pet peeve of mine are these inane announcements from the flight deck that 'we're all ready to go' when they really aren't. If a passenger is two minutes late for the gate close their bags are off loaded. Yet we waste hours of time waiting for freight.

Oh wait, the airline doesn't get paid unless it carries the freight. Pax just have their ticket cancelled.

Freight is a bigger earner?

Dont delivery freight, contract at risk.

Pax bags off loaded, a pax might threaten to "never fly again" but usually it doesnt happen.

The airline sets the rules rather than the captain and in most situations the freight has a much higher income per Kg than passengers.

.... and the airline gets paid....

Some freight comes with contractual obligations regarding punctuality and condition of freight??

Self loading freight is carried with a certain degree of loathing and is “best effort only”:D

exactly :)

I also suspect leaving freight behind would have potential weight and balance issues.
