There's a dead possum in the ceiling above my office. I guess the heat from the last few days killed it?

Ewww. Poor things (both of you - the possum for dying and you for having to put up with the smell).

Friend has a possum which has taken up residence in her garage. Both her and her husband think it is very cute even though it has shredded the silver foil insulation. Named it Peter.

Nope. It's already starting to smell, and I have a slightly blocked nose too. It better be gone by tomorrow, as Monday morning is not going to be pleasant.
We had a dead 'something' in our wall cavity maybe 8 weeks ago. We think it was only small as the smell only lasted just over 3 weeks.. Lets hope its just a mouse; a possum will last a looong time. We knew it was about to end once we noticed blow flies - about 6 a day for maybe 3 days in a row. There was nothing we could do to stop the smell, just shut that door until it was over.

Sorry to say but Monday next week is just the beginning if its possum size.

Its kind of a funny story. Older son was staying in the room next door. I noticed a smell on Day 1 but not too bad. His partner came over on Day 2 and smelt it and thought it was my son's laundry that needed to be attended to so she rang him and asked if there were dirty socks somewhere (I wasnt home). He said nope, it was all clean. By the next day we could isolate the wall where the issue was. By the next day it was awful but continued to ripen up considerably over the next weeks. Then gradually eased again as the blow flies came in. We were pleased kind of, to see them as we knew the larvae were what was sorting the issue out.

Therein lies the problem, you were biding (your time) instead of bidding.

I declined to bid because they don't accept points earning cards. :D
Actually, very good indeed.:p

Now, of course, I will say that's what I intended to 'rite'.;)

Although 'biding on' is not an oft used phrase. Over to the grammar thread!

I got a ride home in a tow truck today. The temperature gauge in my 2005 VZ Statesman was suddenly reading high and as I pulled into the shops the overheat alarm buzzed. I bought some cheap replacement coolant to get home but it just went straight through onto the ground, so a call to the RAC was necessary. They were flat out so sent a tow truck straight away and said to ring up later for a visit from the breakdown car.

I am pretty sure that the coolant overflow tank is cracked. Unfortunately, like most things in a modern-ish car, it is hidden behind various plastic panels so I can't get a good look at it. Naturally the temperature was about 35 C at the time.

The RAC is coming by shortly to give me a diagnosis.

How on earth does one delete olds private messages?

Click on the old PM and open it up. Then go and click on "Leave conversation" up near your name/avatar. Then in the pop up box "future message handling " click on desired answer, either "accept future messages" or "ignore future messages" and click "Leave Conversation". It will then disappear from your PM/Conversations list.
