We've donated to the MS, RFS, SLSA, Smith Family, Salvos, Fred Hollows, and so it goes on.... once they spam me via phone and mail - I cut it off.

Given the ever reducing number that contribute in this country - I reckon I'm punching above my weight.

IWDA for me, they will get a sizeable sum when I kark it.
one you might like is Ryan Carters’ batting for Change. You are a bit of a cricket follower aren’t you? Ryan is a family friend, so I know the money is almost entirely going to its purpose and not being soaked up by admin costs. It is going towards paying for the education of hundreds of girls in India and Africa. And they use cricket to help raise the money each year.

Why would you want to meet your little tax deduction?

I have an aussie sponsor kid in NT, via Smith family.

The couple of letters I've gotten, she is in a couple of new programs to help with school and I know she/the family gets the gift cards I send her for Christmas and birthday

I'm ok with min contact.
we do one of those as well - it’s the education sponsorship? We’ve had different ones over the years. We now have a little girl in Sydney who lives with her Gran and I’ve had letters from her and her Gran. It seems quite a good program.

All I can say from experience is be wary of leaving money to charities in your will, it deeply complicates and extends the process of winding up the deceased person's estate and can get quite messy.

A few years ago we looked at what we were doing with charities and decided that we would just pick one and focus on it. There is a particular one that is relevant to us, cancer research, and now we just funnel into it, and it alone. It makes us feel a bit more focused.
we are a bit the same - we used to give a bit to a lot of different ones, but they must share their lists or something as we found we were getting constant phone calls. It became rather irriitating. So we decided to rationalise it and give to Batting for Change, sponsor a child through the Smith Family Education program and a monthly regular donation to Medecine Sans Frontiers. It seemed to be a good spread of charities and we could concentrate our giving, We still do the odd irregular donation - Soldier On for e.g. and if someone turns up at the door, but on the whole just those 3.

4am wakeup because Hubbys Men Chasing Waterfalls group is meeting for dawn.

Might as well go to the office now.

Yep, cruising
Yep. And other places to avoid are pubs, planes, trains, entertainment venues, live concerts, restaurants, sporting events - in fact anywhere where people gather. ;)

I remember flying Paris to SIN and on boarding, there was a lady just giving a high maint, annoying vibe. We moved seats as soon as the seat belt sign went off as she was sitting in front of us.

About hour 9, a screaming match started between the woman and the old guy in front of her - my sympathies were with him as even during the flight, rows away, her behavior was annoying.

It can happen anywhere, especially in confined spaces and yes, a cruise ship is large but its still a confined space.

I paid $100 per wash on my new Bosch washing machine and now it has completely died. I have a 10 day wait for the service person. According to the ACC a "major failure" and unable to fix in a "reasonable" time fame (eg if not fixed when the service person eventually gets here), means I can have inter alia, a refund. Anyone have any experience at all with that?

When did you buy it?

Recent mum in law fridge experience and theres a 14 day return clause somewhere. We phoned service tech multiple times, had tech visit multiple times, got a case number from tech, used case number with the Good Guys to get refund (we actually replaced with F&P, mum in law loves her new fridge)

Its been a couple of weeks, the old fridge tech support STILL have not contacted us.

Where did you buy it?

We had an issue with a washing machine (purchased from appliances online). Plugged in, wouldn't work.

Replacement delivered, failed machine taken away. Waited 3 days.

I bought it from Appliances on Line in September. I have spoken to Bosch and I suppose I have to await the outcome of the eventual service call. If it can't be fixed on the spot I want a full refund and will go with a Miele next.
