Today a good friend lost their battle with a rare complication of AOSD.

One of the most selfless humans I've ever met; who's family has shown mine so much love, generosity and support. I'm devastated for her family, and saddened that I'll never see her again and that my kids will never know her.
I had to google that. Another systemic auto immune disease I think. I think I hate those next to cancer. They sound so ‘harmless’ in description but can ruin people’s lives.
My condolences.

You never know what's going to happen. Just before 7pm one of the residents in my block called on me to come quickly.

A car had gone through a side wall. Fortunately no injuries or structural damage to the building. The wall was half down and looking bad.

Called council and they said call the fire brigade on 000. They took the details and sent the SES to look at it. They knocked down the remaining part of the wall and made it safe.

Now to start the insurance process. The complicated bit, is this part of the strata insurance or part of the unit's? It gets complicated because the wall was built by them (with permission) and it looks like they are responsible for it. Of course the car driver is totally responsible for the cost but we want to ensure we get a quality replacement, not an el cheapo replacement.

Very sorry to hear this. Condolences.

Isn’t structural part of the Body Corporate? Usually as apartment owners Insurance is contents only and the Body Corporate has building cover. It’d be quicker if you could claim it yourself but don’t think that’ll work.

Neighbour had a car crash through their front fence and got very close to the kids bedroom. He planted a tree at the front for a buffer, if it should happen again. Kid speeding, clipped the curb and lost control.

Happened again a couple of years later but hit the tree.

The key word here is reinstatement, the wall will / should, (unless there has been a change in building reg’s or products no longer available) be put back as it was.

We have coffee every morning on the sidewalk outside a cafe. Someone was killed there several years ago by a car backing in. I sit in the same spot every day protected by a very large tree between me and the street.

Our old house was on a corner (sort of a curved Y intersection) and we had a lot of traffic due to a school and a train station. For years we had a massive tree on the corner, my mum hoped that if anyone ever missed the bend they'd get the tree and not the house.

I’m grateful I never followed the masses into coffee culture
I’m Italian. I was born with an espresso for breakfast, wine with lunch and 2,000 years of culture...

Hubby just reminded me this morning....Vegans live on average 7 years longer than everyone else. 7 boring, miserable, friendless, bacon free years!

Normally yes, but in this case the owner wanted a specific wall that was superior to the normal wooden walls and apparently permission was granted with the proviso that the owner (and subsequent owners) were responsible for its upkeep.

While the car owner is insured the outcome will determine who has what responsibilities relating to its reinstatement.

So, any thoughts or feelings towards the $5 per parcel import tax/security fee proposal?

It’s a classic isn’t it! Dietitians look way too thin for me. Our EA was tiny but she suffers from osteoporosis because her body weight isn’t enough for her bones to stay strong. Plus wrinkles are always much more prominent on thin people. As always, there is a balance. Dietician looks way older than me even and I’ve a few years up on her. Hair looks dull. She’s not getting enough good oils.
