The Moral Majority is thriving - it's just changed sides :).
People commit suicide daily because of the struggles with who they are and being accepted. Gay, trans, whatever bashing, verbal and physical, still happens in the class room, workplace and social encounters.

The Christian moral police can go kick rocks if being more accepting and loving means one person is ok today.

So what about the Islamist moral police?

Both Christianity ans Islam are religions with peaceful teachings; both while considering being 'gay' to against the tenets of God/Allah, do preach that love of another human being is more important.

Doubt it was ever a majority. I'm proud to be part of the respectful immoral minority.

What I was trying to say - a bit obtuse, perhaps - is that the self-righteous, hectoring, lecturing, damning 'rights' groups ... many types ... have taken over how the Christian 'right' in the USA used to go about. 'Their' side/position is right/just, everyone who doesn't agree with their view is evil/unjust and must be silenced. I'm not sure if we can talk about the recent plebiscite now or not, but that pretty benign beer ad that got howled off air is what I'm talking about.

As I noted above, silencing/censoring an opposition is the only way to go if your arguments are not good enough to counter the other side..

When your car sat nav takes you off the freeway, through the suburbs of Glasgow and then back on the freeway!

Made it to Glasgow, scored a balcony jr suite!

The valet guy seemed happy to take the jaguar away.

Barbara Bush has died, aged 92.

She was one tough (and eminently sensible) bird. :)

Lots of quotes, but I like this one:

She told graduates [in 1990]: "Who knows, somewhere out in this audience may even be someone who will one day follow in my footsteps and preside over the White House as the president's spouse and I wish him well."

She and George HW voted for Hilary in the last US election.

This is another revealing story about her.

People expressing their disagreement with you doesn't constitute suppression of free speech.

There's no right to just say whatever you want and expect people to nod thoughtfully and acceptingly.
Being labelled a racist isn't just a simple disagreement at what's being said. It's an ugly attack that is somehow justified and allowed.

I should be entitled to freedom of speech without someone telling me what they think or feel.

Probably more to do with efficiency, as Aldi's whole model is based on it.

You might think that, but you’d be wrong.
It’s all about removing the risks around mistakes with change.
Ask your average (younger) checkout person how many a dozen is, plenty think it’s 10 !

I just tuned in to the Folau? issue. I’m so confused these days. What is freedom of speech versus saying things that are offensive? I’m not getting where the line is.

Biting the hand that feeds you.
Qantas won’t want to fund an organisation which doesn’t reflects its own sociallly inclusive view of the world.
Frankly I think the comments are childish and indicative of mindless obedience to an outdated doctrine. He (Folau) has been given too much oxygen on this issue.
Before social media impacted our lives, this kind of silly rant would have struggled to make news outside of his church pamphlet.
I have always maintained that best thing about social media is that it is immediate and Visible, and the worst thing about social media is that it is immediate and visible.
Unlike a drivers licence, one doesn’t need to be educated / trained on how to responsibly use it. The result is “car crash” comments like this one.
Frankly who cares what he says. Being able to kick and run with an oval ball better than most other folk , isn’t (IMHO) a solid reason to be taken seriously on matters of social significance.
Would we be as outraged if he announced the world was flat?

I like and agree. Totally. Social Media. The best and the worst. I live in Adelaide so Rugby league doesn’t really get much AirPlay. I think we were watching national SBS.

Actually, this particular issue relates to "Rugby Union".:p
Oh. I thought they were gentlemen!

It’s funny, I originally just put Rugby then edited to add in League.

We still don’t hear much about Union here anyways. Obviously :D

If what you are saying discriminates against a group of people (ie gay people in this case), then it shouldnt be said. He's entitled to his belief, he is not entitled to discriminate against others because they don't live the same way he does.

But that gets back to my issue. What exactly is Freedom of Speech? Can I say rugby followers are idiots or is that discrimination? (Not that I would dare say that :D)

Darrell Eastlake (sports commentator) dies at 75 after battle with Alzheimer’s. We really need to find a cure for this.

No such thing as freedom of speech in Australia.
