I understand if youre in the health industry or deal with a lot of ebola-ridden randoms but why get the flu shot?

I dont see the point. Its natural to get sick, die even plus the strain changes. Not that I wish sickness or death on someone but I refuse flu shots.

I think if I explained to someone where I went in a year I would spend half that year getting vaccines. I am not against the majors, but in a practical and philosophical way I do not rely on vaccines.

Cause I don't want to be at risk of passing it on to my parents, now in their 80s.

And I just don't want the flu! It's extremely unpleasant. I see it as a small insurance premium against having to cancel holidays or other important events.

My hubby had influenza a few years ago. He was so ill. He barely moved out of bed for five days and had to crawl on all fours to go to the bathroom. Sweating profusely. Shaking. The first day he tried walking properly he fainted. Literally dropped to the floor and hit his face. He always has a flu jab now. Yet I was in the same bed and didn’t catch it from him.

You’ve clearly never had the flu. It’s an experience I never want to repeat. Plus it kills otherwise healthy people. Just because it’s natural to die doesn’t mean you should die of something easily prevented like the flu.

I don't believe that I've ever had the flu - colds, yes, but nothing that has made me bed-ridden or with aches and pains. Despite that, I have had the vaccination in recent years because it is prudent now that I am, ahem..., older.

Any idea that the vaccination will cause a form of the flu is a myth.

Indeed. People say they have the flu but if they are upright and merely coughing sneezing or a bit unwell then they have a simple respiratory infection. If you’ve had the flu you know it. I’ve not had it either.

Yes I have had the flu. Terrible, wouldn't want to experience it that bad again but I still refuse flu shots. I believe in vaccinations but everything cant be solved with one.

If most sick people stayed the F at the home to heal, it wouldn't spread as much. It's the morons that struggle into work, making others sick that annoy me. I've sent people home for risking others, especially staff who are pregnant.

But still sick and shouldn't be there.

We had one guy so sick he was hospitalised BUT FIRST, he sat at the back of the conference room dying, after being told to leave, and that week I had almost 20 people off sick within days.

Since then, I'm strict on sending people home immediately.

On BBC news this morning they were saying there's been more of a trend of people going to work than sick, i.e. not taking a sickie.

I had a big boss who gave an award to those who had taken no 'unscheduled' leave (eg. sick leave). Terrible for morale, especially as I was one of those who had been healthy that year! The boss was an interesting (to say the least) character.

Essentially those people not getting vaccinated are relying on others that are, it’s called herd immunity. Too many people decide not to do their bit and the rate of infection goes up.
