Off to Brisbane tomorrow - Yay - it’s been 5 months since I was on a plane, so suffering withdrawal symptoms :). Meeting up wit Dr FM for a few days of warmth and R&R. Booked at Urbane for Saturday night - anyone tried it?

The last time we had dinner in Brissy we went to Urbane - we thought it was OK, but I wouldn't go back there. Next month we will go back to Aria - now that was good !

Actually, we are the opposite. But I have to admit it was a few years ago. Can’t afford to eat out in Brisbane, too many European michelin restaurants to save for.:D

Well, that's a downer. Came home this afternoon and opened the front door to a flood. The hose leading from the wall tap to the reservoir of a stand alone toilet I have near the front door had burst and full force of water had been gushing out for an unknown amount of time. Luckily mostly tile floor in surrounding area, but some rugs and part of carpet soaked and maybe damage where the water has soaked between walls and floor. Insurance claim under way.

But that's got me a bit paranoid now. If this had happened anytime between 6 and 1 week ago, I was away, and it would have been gushing for up to a week before being discovered. I turn the dishwasher off at the tap before I go away these days, but now it seems like I'll be turning all the toilet taps off as well! Guess I'll also get all the toilet hoses replaced when the burst one is fixed as well. :(

I feel your pain. I once had the dishwasher hose blow off the tap. Fortunately the insurance company took care of it but we had carpet blowers in the house for days drying it all out. I've always turned the washing machine taps off when the machine isnt in use to prevent similar happening again (the dishwasher was in the laundry).

Whereas in the UK we have it the other way around, our washing machine in the kitchen :D

There has been a "flood" of easy hookers or flexible hoses failing. There are new ones on the market that are guaranteed not to burst, I have several of them on my desk, but I am home sick today. Will let you know the name to ask for tomorrow. A lot of my clients are getting them changed over, so they dont have to go thru your experience.

The figures are now out for the Commonwealth Games.
Of the 8103 visas issued for athletes and officials 190 have applied for asylum,15 for other visas and 50 have just disappeared.
Almost 200 Commonwealth Games athletes and officials seek asylum in Australia
To be honest, I dont blame them. Even I would be looking for any reason not to return home, if I came from same/similar countries. Head down, bum up would be my advise to them now to maximise their applications.

In the past 2mths, Ive developed a heel spur :(

Doc wanted cortisone injections, Chiro gave me stretches and very painful massage (and I have a high threshold for pain). Went the Chiro way for initial treatment and its been a about 4 days and feeling a world of difference already. My house is starting to look like a rehab ward, between hubbys flexibility exercises and my foot exercises & stretching. Rollers, spiky balls, resistance bands ect - we've got the lot.

Plus a real lack of space!
We were in Atlanta, looking at some really beautiful old houses and noticed all the cars on the street. They were built before cars so no garages. Only a couple of klms from the city hub. Use to be a bad area to live but not anymore.

A friend of hubbys is a harbor pilot, who often posts stuff like this. Looks like so much can go wrong with these guys in Finland but power to them. Skip to 1.15 if you want

I have been to Aria in Sydney - it was OK but not my favourite - prefer Bridge Room. Aria in Brisbane has a very pretty position. So many good restaurants to choose from :)
