One thing i dont get is restaurants often have an reservation opening at 10pm but the official published closing time is 10pm
..

We were at the GC in January this year. Did not get ElT (J/F) but Yavapai (Y). The place was completely full even in winter. (only the South Rim is open in Winter)

However there was a problem with the water mains - pump died and the entire GC was operating on reserves. Try getting an industrial pump just after new years eve. We had to eat off paper plates. Its not usually known that the elevation of the GC Rim is about the same as the top of Mt Kosziusko so water has to be pumped. Its an incongruity of National Parks.

Booked they Chef’s table at the Lane in June, had to make a $50.00 deposit to secure the booking, and had to book a fair way out to get a table.
Having done it once before, i can recommend it , great food, lovely wines

I just dont get how the server gets the tip if its paid via credit card. How? I prefer to leave the money there and it goes into his/her pocket......

Totally agree..... We (GPH et moi) travel the world with USD $1 (or as Mickeyc747 calls them, "stripper dollars") and $ 5 bills for direct tipping.

Something new we’ve been working on to alert members to new privileges as they receive them.

They went live this afternoon along with a new help page on the user titles available.

I see I have a 'reputation' trophy. Doesn't say what the reputation is though  and perhaps I'd better not ask what it is ;).

Is that how much they charge. Have always thought they are in the $100 bill league.

You must frequent higher class establishments than I do.

:p I remember tucking 2,000,000 Turkish Lire notes into the cleavage of the Belly Dancers in Istanbul. Oops. Did I give the game away?

edit: 2,000,000 Turkish Lire was = ~AUD $ 1.86 as I recall!

Essentially, liking, agreeing and marking a post as informative builds that persons reputation in the community. Just as a large post count can signal a big contribution to the community, a lot of ratings/likes can signify a lot of helpful posts. In the help section (bottom right of every page) you'll find a section on member titles, and additional privileges gained as you hit certain durations or reputations on the site. While these aren't new, the knowledge that you could for instance, edit the wiki, wasn't as obvious previously. You of course know all about the wiki ;) and we thank you for your contributions.

Two NAB debit cards recently issued from expired debit cards are completely failing in Europe. I even called the Bank from Italy and they can see no reason why the cards aren’t working. They blamed the ATM. Except ANZ card worked fine from it. Then they said the cards were broken. They aren’t. They worked just before we left. Hate NAB right now and will get Citibank cards next time. Nothing to do with recent NAB issue either. Currently having to get money out from ANZ credit card. Then transferring cash so we don’t pay fees.

I know you are supposed to, but we just take the whole amount. The way I look at it, the ordinary workers in the USA are getting totally shafted. You don’t know whether they have a kid at home they can’t afford medical bills for or whatever. What’s a few dollars here or there when you are travelling. It’s like giving charity, without the admin people taking their cut.....
That's what they want you to think. It is true in most of the USA but in San Francisco the minum pay for a restaurant worker is now $14 an hour and from 1/7/18 $15 an hour.Far higher than most of the USA.Though I don"t see anyone saying therefore you should tip less in San Francisco.

And don’t forget the pay or play San Fran employer health care mandate.
