Mrs AS just noticed that the armchair has been reduced in price! What! She's emailed asking for the extra discount to be applied to our purchase yesterday.
Never got a reply from West Elm about that. Oh well, worth a try. Expected at least a reply though. Furniture arrives today!

Someone I know is having a public spat about her ex not paying child support. The same man that had children when they met and proved back then with his actions that he didnt pay child support and yet she still married him.

Why is she surprised when he does the same thing to her?

Definitely try this one. I was skeptical but it’s good. Price makes it even better

Damned SA regulations that don't allow booze in supermarkets so we can't buy it.

Apart from the fact I am totally sick of being away from home for so long even in small NZ towns the supermarkets are open late. Only a few weeks to go and then I'll be home and planning a holiday with all my hard earned dosh

I was thinking of taking a nice bottle to Iceland next year and leaving for my host - if its all we hope it to be. Im told booze in Iceland is horrendously expensive so thought an aussie wine might be a nice gift.

And a jar of Vegemite.

I mentioned before we went to Scotland that NAB sent an email offer about a cashback for using my card while OS. Just got a text saying Im getting $50 cashback (to my card).

I forgot about that.

But hasn't the 10 cents already been invested as a deposit when the item was bought, or are they being collected from bins and the like, or am I missing something?

Hardly an investment, just imagine if our banks and building societies took our money then gave it back to us in a couple of weeks/months time without any interest payment! :)

Whoops, seems like they currently do!

You only get the money back if you return the bottle. It then becomes an exercise in opportunity cost. The OC is too high if you have drive somewhere to get 10c, but the OC becomes better if you have a big collection of bottles. Hence the midnight recycle bin raiders.

For me the OC is still too high.
Divert eligible bottle and store - make sure bar code is still on it.
Then drive with said collection to Recycle and Earn Kiosk next to my Woolies
Hope that its not full
Individually scan each labelled bottle into kiosk
Then finalise transaction.

Then go to Woolies.

Its like the Woolies 4c shop a docket but saving is only 2c/L because the prices are higher at Caltex-Woolies.
In our Golf 50L - $1 or about 12 km extra diesel

@ 5L/100km, over a 30,000km year I estimate Id consume about 1500L = $30 per year via shop a docket.
But then I have to drive out of my way to get to one. So not worth the effort.

But can understand why some want to do it. $30 is $30.

Yes the 10c has already been paid and now we are getting the 10c back. This is just what we consume. To some that might not be worthwhile but dad has a lot of time on his hands and collection centre not far from home.

Our fuel dockets are worth the hassle as both the Coles and Woollies servos are usually the same price as the cheapest.Coles is on our way back from the post office as is woollies and they have another on our way to our supermarket.
In fact if I could be bothered to drive ~ 12 Ks both ways there is a Woollies servo that is often 5-6 cents cheaper than most.Have not been bothered too many times.

Mum drinks only bottled water. Dad does too on occasion + bitter lemon. My brother drinks soft drink and mineral water and then there's my addiction.

Money goes towards my daughter's school fund.

I hope your daughter is drinking good old fashioned tap water.
