Shrek's currently in the QF FLounge at SIN. He's not happy says it's more QP standard. I advised him to head off to shops instead and buy that Chanel nail polish I've been wanting for ages

Only SYD and MEL F Lounges are actually "real" F Lounges. The other look a lot like (perhaps spruced up) QPs.

Is now sitting in the hotel bar at Hilton Newark Penn Station; the wifi is free but the beer is not.

Now I have met 2 AFFers in 3 countries. Anat0l and Serfty

So far so good on the flights; one cancellation but that didn't cause too much trouble.

Full trip report to come, hmm might stick it somewhere and I will have to link it here.

Í arrived at the Stamford Sydney airport at 830 this morning expecting to drop off my bag and head into town. A room was available. I have a fantastic view of the airport and am spending the day in bed in my Qantas pj's. Might venture to the gym this afternoon.

Hmm, I wonder where you got them :cool:

Sitting in the HKG Wing F Class lounge. About to head off to the Qantas F Class Lounge and then a quick stop in the Pier F Class lounge as my next flight is departing from gate 71 in a little over an hour. :( Spent time in the SIN Qantas F Lounge this morning. So by my calculations that is 4 F Lounges in the one day. Is that even close to a record? Does the SIN Skyview Lounge count as a First Class Lounge because that could make 5 F Lounges in the one day. ;)

Yes the SIN QF/BA F Lounge is a little ordinary. What time was he at the lounge? I was there until 7:45am this morning.

I could stake a claim for the same record :)

You may have it on your own as the QF F Lounge is closed between 10:00am and 4:00pm.

How about 5 F Lounges in 3 cities in a 24 hour period? :p TPE CX F Lounge, HKG CX Pier F Lounge (twice), HKG QF F Lounge, SIN QF F Lounge, HKG CX Wing F Lounge.

Did anyone know about the train at HKG airport? I had forgotten about until I accidentally discovered it again today. Close to the Qantas Lounge, Wing Lounge and takes you down to gate 60. Saved a lot of walking to get to gate 71.

Its one way only though from memory if you are in Departures, you have to walk back if you have a gate near immigration etc.

Just received a phone call informing me my flight tomorrow has been delayed about 8 hours. The plane has broken down in the USA and will be late back to Oz. No room on 107 nor through Brisbane, Melbourne or Auckland.

Anyone want to hang out in Sydney tomorrow?

Am guessing I have no chance of being allowed to check in early and chill at the QP all day.

I gotta contact my hotel in NYC and tell them I am delayed. Log on and choose a seat on the new AA flight. Anything else?

I can't see any reason why you wouldn't be able to hang at the QP. In fact, I'd be doing that in case a seat does come up on another flight.

SYD Intl probably won't accept checked luggage until several hours before flight, and staff are normally reluctant to 'open' flights that aren't already open (if hand luggage only). The F check-in does have a lot more flexibility, but even then they may not like doing it.

There's nothing stopping karens from trying to check-in (most likely denied). dropping bag off at Left Luggage (downstairs in Intl terminal near McDonalds - $10 for 6 hours, $15 for 10 hours), heading to T3 and using the QP there. With some blagging, use of the Qantas International transfers bus could be possible, otherwise it's ~$5 via bus each way (or train - but I think you have to buy the ticket at the counter for the $5 transfer)

Can't recall if T3 has left luggage facilities, although believe they do.

I wonder what happens for people who they aren't able to contact before the flight that rock up at the normal time they believe it is supposed to leave.....

Maybe they can offer routing via NRT (as final destination is JFK) or an earlier flight.

They get told to come back later?

Sydney has problems with storing luggage - as do a lot of other airports. Plus the earlier a bag arrives at the airport, the more chance of it going missing as well.

I can't see QF allowing a re-route through NRT. Plus from memory, flight schedules mean it would be a much longer trip. The best other option would be a waitlist on any other QF flight via LAX/SFO etc - although QF are unlikely to want to do this (based on the huge number of other affected pax).

She initially said 107 was full then she put me on hold and spoke to her boss. 107 was still full. Through everywhere else is apparently full. I'm just thinking I'll get a check in dragon who won't let me drop my bags and make me loiter in the check in area all day. Can't get me out tonight either.

I checked in online earlier but now I have noticed the button is greyed out.

And I can't seat select my AA flight like I could the original one.

I called the hotel in NYC. The woman wanted me to cancel my first night of accom since I get in at 530am. I might need a shower.......

If landing at 5.30, prob 7.30 before you'd get there.. might be an idea, and ask her if she can put a note that you'd like a v. early check-in if available:!:
