Or Soda as the say in the USA.

Me: "May I have a Soda Water Please?"

FA: Blank look ... *

Me: (after a short pause) "Oh, sorry, please make that a 'Club Soda'"

FA: "OK"

*FWIW, Soda in North America is a sweet fizzy drink' so "Soda Water" is an oxymoron.

On ABC TV tonight was the final episode of the English TV series "The Bill"

The show had been running for since 1984.

I had religiously watched it through the 90s but had been watching less of it in the last few years but I am still sad to see that it has ended.

... I did too, until I came across AFF/FT and now often refer to the region as "South West Pacific" :p

Has anyone else received an e-mail from a "Rebeca de la Peña" requesting help with some research, saying that you've been found via FT?

Hello Mr Flashware!
I´m Rebeca, an undergraduate Mexican student executing a study with a group of classmates, for our professional thesis. We are interested in finding more about the motives of using a loyalty program such as the frequent flyer program.
I´ve been reading the FlyerTalk forum for quite some months now and found very interesting information that will be very valuable for the study. I would like, if possible, to approach you with some simple questions in order to make the research more profound and accurate.
Since this is an academic school research, the results have no means of profit. If you are interested in the results, my team and I would be more than happy to share them with you.
I hope you can be part of our study by answering some questions, either through e-mail or IM, whichever way you feel more comfortable. We would appreciate it very much.
In case there’s any doubt about this, please feel free to ask!
Kind regards,
Rebeca de la Peña

Nope. Is that on here or over on FT?

Isn’t the media requests forum where they’re meant to ask for that information?

Well tonight in the SYD T2 QP it did not appear to be suffering from too many WPs exercising their anytime access.Much quieter than T3.So it didn't appear many were flying with the opposition.
Unfortunately we were "legal"travelling JQ and got one of those craft with nonreclining seats and awful pitch.
Also saw the world's oldest conwoman-Had seat 21A but sat down in 1C and didn't want to move.Started crying how it would be impossible to walk that far down the plane and how she couldn't manage stairs.Eventually the fellow in 3C gave up his seat.I was in 2D and heard the whole performance. The FAs were really putting themselves out for the old"dear" and ordered her a wheelchair at MCY.After touchdown the FAs came up and again told her what they had arranged-"I think I will be alright dear"she said.At the seat belt off moment she pushed her way past everyone,3rd off the plane, handled the stairs well and passed the other 2 by the time she got to the terminal.Didn't see her by the time I got inside.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Was received via email so possibly via the "email member" link on FT?

You could report them, but they shouldn’t have your email so you’re safe, but I think that’s going too far. They want people to participate in research, they should go through the proper channels.

Hopefully karma will get her, it should! But failing that, I don’t think JQ would have received much bad PR from banning her from ever using their airline again. If she was in my seat, I wouldn’t let her have it.

Yes, two others at least have been contacted, possibly more. Here's a portion of a message by admin in regard to this:

Today, I was asked as to if I would be attending the 'Royal Hobart Show' this year. My response was some simple matematics :p

--Show--

$17.00 to get in
$15.00 for subjectively coughpy food
$20.00 for a few rides
$3.00 for the bus fare to/from show

Total = $55.00

--Go Flying--

$52.00 for a JQ HBA-MEL-HBA flight

Includes:
-lounge access
-all the food you can stuff your face with and all you can drink
-entertainment i.e. People trying to cram their oversized carry-on into the overhead lockers
-rides (turbulence)

A simple 'no' would have done it but I just had to do some comparison. :p

Sounds like, fun, what day is that?

Also, shouldn’t you be QP Silver by now. Phone them back up and get them to fix it!!

I came to some of this realisation when I was already 23. You've done it at the age of 15.

You did forget taxi fares, unless your parents are nice enough to chauffeur you around, even for your joy flights.

I could put together a similar case for the Ekka in Brisbane, although getting a flight to somewhere good from BNE on the cheap is a little more of a challenge.

Now just to be testy (since you are still in high school):

Includes:
-lounge access

Yeah, but you had to pay for that one way or another. Your only hope is to make your return on investment as high as possible.

-all the food you can stuff your face with and all you can drink

You can tell you're young because you find the food in a lounge more inviting than at a fair. Mind you, when all said and done, both are junk. The fair food might just send you to the cardiac ward faster, I guess.

As for the drink, well...just wait until you turn 18. Note what I said above about return on investment...... (Bundy Bear knows all about this, although he's a WP now...)

-entertainment i.e. People trying to cram their oversized carry-on into the overhead lockers

You're a little sadis_, aren't you? :) You call that entertainment; I call that eye-rolling practice. Yeesh...

-rides (turbulence)

See previous point.

Still - good effort. I'll give you an A.

I know about return on investment with that one too :p though with no actual figures to hand, I think I did well enough in my first year to pay off the investment.
