Again what is with the obsession with these machines?!!

More people get a kick out of a pancake machine compared to a person cooking pancakes cf. an espresso coffee machine compared to a person making espresso coffee.

Yes, someone making pancakes to order would be great, but unlikely, so a machine is better than nothing.

Did you make it back to BNE without issue?

Yes, in fact I'm posting this from home.

In short: arrived in SYD, went to Domestic Transfer, only seats to BNE were late in evening, got changed from QF512 to QF556, spent day in T3 JL working, flight was delayed, but I am finally home. Now to work tomorrow (or rather, this morning...)

Well the alternative to nothing is actually just putting out some pikelets that came out of the packet. I wouldn't imagine preparing them is tough, either with a shake-and-bake recipe (you know, those small milk bottle shaped containers that you add water, shake and pour) or simply a giant squirt bottle that you pour onto a hot plate, flip once, then serve up. Again, not spectacular pancakes at all and I can't imagine the machine doing better. You could even try the thing in an oven and probably do alright. All the machine does is remove the human element (except that the human is still required to top up the batter formula when it runs out).

I guess in short why the obsession with pancakes that don't taste much better than supermarket-grade pikelets. Maybe it's just me, since my dad makes great pancakes (and I'm still trying to learn how to do it myself).

Whilst we're talking about lounge stuff, having been in the SYD T3 JL today, I'm impressed with the Vittoria coffee being used in the lounges. Certainly blew me away after having to settle with Santos supplied beans (or whatever they are) used in the BNE D JL.

Must report, pancake machine seen in the ADL QP last Monday morning.

I'd settle for edible food, pancake or no pancake.

The coffee in the BNE J Lounge is terrible. It was a moot point last friday night when i was there last as the two machines werent working

This is a great website. I have been following it for a while - ever since just browsing one day some family members of mine were staring at me from the monitor! That photographer sure gets around ;)

Yep,for all the cough that is on the internet there are still heaps of really excellent sites and I reckon this
is one of them,I hadn't seen it before and would never have known about it if it had not been for one
of the people I follow on Twitter posting about it,I love the pictures, obviously a talented photographer.

Maybe it's like the fascination with the Japanese Beer pouring mchines.

I myself make great Pancakes, pikelets, drop scones, scones etc., but could care less. This is due to virtually subsisting on them at times as a tertiary student.

30+ years later I still feel the same.:-|

Serfty: how much to make some for me? I have had a massive craving of late - and Bakers Delight purchased ones just didn't cut it.

I don't have time at the moment to head out to the Dandenongs or Gippslands.... hmmm fresh whipped cream on top - drooooooooooooooooooooooool.

Secret to making great scones was passed on to me by my mother.
Handle the dough as little as possible or the gluten in the flour will be overworked and you will
end up with hard rocks instead of light ,fluffy scones, other tip is to add a pinch of salt and the grated rind of a lemon.
My mum made the best scones I have ever tasted but mine are pretty good too,I think it's a gift, you either have the
knack of making good ones or you don't.

I would rather a waffle machine. The mix though from an HGI and not an Hampton Inn.Of course real maple syrup would be mandatory.

Thank heavens, someone else who understands about Maple Syrup.

So many people I meet don't know there's a difference between Maple Syrup, and what is best called Maple flavoured syrup. What would you rather have people, the 100% pure stuff straight out of the tree, or something a chemist has cooked up in a lab with more E-numbers and preservatives than you can shake a stick at.

Food rant over, as you were.

It's about time QF changed their arrival spiel at CBR AP.

Jet* doesn't fly here so there is no need to tell us about collecting luggage before checking in.

As I waited to disembark this evening from row six I spoke to the FA letting the J pax off first and mentioned that they need to change the script. She genuinely had no idea that Jet* didn't fly into CBR.
