Currently in the TG Royal First Lounge in BKK with a long wait for flight TG475 BKK-SYD. Supposed to arrive early tomorrow morning then QF flight (JASA) SYD-BNE, but seeing as QF have cancelled all domestic flights from SYD tomorrow, I could be basketcased thanks to the ash cloud :(

TG could divert to BNE - that would work out rather nicely.

Now I'm sorting out all my different scenarios....

It's worth a shot.. but IIRC from most scenarios where that has happened, even if certain PAX on the flight have BNE as their final destination, they won't let them get off and will still take them to the original end point...

Geez Mal that poor 15 year old check out youngster must've needed a bex & a lie down after all that!

Lol. Self serve checkouts. Even I needed a Bex and a lie down after all that work. (should have checked online, then written down the value before I got there. Would have been a few transactions less). Oh well. ;)

Re: Careers/Jobs of Frequent Flyers

i dare and tell you what I am drinking - the snobs on here will ban me from the F Lounge run in July ;)

Nah, we won't ban you ... but could leave you outside the F lounge, or worse still, get you into the J lounge and leave you there :P

Then again, I know of people (me included) who sometimes only drink beer in the F lounge... That's probably sacrilege enough!

Flying so much premium in the last few days, I have had access to more than enough top shelf alcohol to belittle an Irishman.

However, in order to keep my tentative constitution intact before I need it when I return to Australia, I've stuck to mostly non-alcoholic drinks: orange juice for vitamin C, milk for calcium, protein and bone strength and water for hydration. Flying so much is an aching demand at times. *puts flame shield up*

I sometimes wonder if I should have a "Flammable. Keep away from fire" sticker on me sometimes :D

Good luck with the flights tomorrow BTW... SYD is a mess until mid arvo at best, so you may need to spend a night there... Might be a good time to use some PC points if you have any spare!

Well at least I hope that ash clouds only disrupt mostly air traffic, not ground traffic (i.e. getting around SYD will not be a huge problem).

The Coogee Beach Crowne Plaza and Old Sydney HI and InterContinental Sydney all have award availability tomorrow, but the Old Sydney HI in addition has $158 if I book using my 25% off Best Flexible Rate certificate. I have made a flexible booking for the latter (cancellable for no charge up to 6pm).

At very worst, I'm hoping there might be an AFFer based in SYD (pref close to airport or CBD) who might be willing to let me crash for a night?

anat0l, YGM.

Our paths did cross for about 5 minutes as Qantas conveniently had the 8:00pm departure across from the transfer gate.
Yes it was good timing.

Is it bad when you talk to an AFF member and they get their name called for being the last passenger to board their flight.
That happens occasionally when one wants to be the last to board. At least I was not too far away and they could see I was there. Most times I let them know that I am at the gate so they do not page me.

I now write the balance on the gift cards, esp when the balance is below $20. Are you going to buy more before 30th June? I have 4x$500 sitting at home....was thinking of buying 6x$500 more but then might struggle to use them up within a year unless I visit Dan Murphy's every week or so:shock:

Yeah it's difficult to decide what to do. Have to visit DSE this week anyway, so will probably buy a final card of $500 or so. Just a little sick of carrying them around IMHO...

At least our roads are still passable, unlike in parts of Argentina. Take a look at the video, while being stuck in Melbourne indefinitely would have its downside there are people over there who are "snowed in" by ash.

In relation to another thread:

That run is almost as long as your flight! :p
FWIW:

6:40am: Left home walked to Bus Stop at Patto Shopping centre
6:46am: Caught bus
6:51am: Arrived Carrum
6:54am: Caught train
7:48am: Alighted train at Melbourne Central, went from platform 2 to Platform 3
7:55am: Caught train
8:15am: Alighted at Essendon
8:30am: Caught Bus
8:51am: Alighted at MEL
8:55am: Walked past Tiger (T4) terminal on way to T2 check-in
9:00am: Arrived NZ premium Check-in, 3 in that queue - hundreds in standard queue.
9:04am: Checked in, proceeded to x-ray security.
9:20am: Exited x-ray security, only by dint of express pass was it only ¼ hour
9:21am: Queued at express lane
9:55am: Got through
10:05am: arrived Air NZ lounge
10:15am: Departed for gate

Aside from time, the Dollar cost of the travel Patto to MEL was Zip as I have a long term Myki. Time cost? - about an hour.

I was more concerned being at Essendon stastion 15 minutes awaiting the 748 bus.

Is it only an hour from 6:40am until 8:51am?

Still interesting itinerary and would have almost been as long as your flight.

AT that time of dya it is only about 65 minutes to drive from home to the airport - and then you've gotta park ($)/pay tolls ($)/fuel ($).
So it was only an hour longer.

FWIW, my flight was 3:52 minutes to AKL.

There are a few people here who will get this... (for the rest, next post please).

https://www.verisign-trusted.com/

Marketing fail by Verisign. Yep, they advertise the advantage of their "Green bar" EVV certs (PS, my org uses these), but the domain is supposedly owned by a marketing company. (Enigma Marketing Services Ltd).Obviously they only tested in IE, not Firefox which shows the EVV Owner name... Yep, I trust it's a Verisign site. IDIOTS!

Even more funny is how they are actually planning to re-brand themselves in the near future (Ouch, at the new name ... and UGGH!).

Must report, pancake machine seen in the ADL QP last Monday morning.

Again what is with the obsession with these machines?!!

More people get a kick out of a pancake machine compared to a person cooking pancakes cf. an espresso coffee machine compared to a person making espresso coffee.

Did you make it back to BNE without issue?
