I have been making the most of 100,000 PC points and being blown away at the Gold Coast since before Christmas, so that may explain a slowing in the overall posting rate.
Literally!

Maybe you should blame NM and me - the LW's were staying at Caloundra for 6 nights until yesterday and I didn't get into my speedo's once. Huge seas at the 3 close beaches - Kings, Moffatt & Caloundra - had them all closed.

... and we've just been sitting through 40+ deg temps. At least it was back to comfortable mid 20s today.

Reggie,

Something to look forward to.

They would be thankful not to be operating the Macchi there any more.

You'll probably see it in 5 to 7 days, dont say I never give you anything.:)

Yes the stuff you see today came through on the weekend, yesterdays stuff will still take a few days. The weather doesn't move across the country that fast.

Reggie & oz_mark,

How are the fires treating you :?:

The bad one was between Souther Cross and Coolgardie where the three truck drivers died, and several trucks and trailers were destroyed. I think that weather is waht you are getting now.

The firers yesterday covered the city in smoke. I am a vollie similar to your CFA, and our area has been pretty much OK. They caught one of the serial arsonists yesterday, so that will help the northern suburbs.

The big problem is the eastern hills suburbs where the majority of the residents do very little in the way of prevention. Alot of them expect a tanker will turn up and protect their place, but the VBFB's take a look and defend the defendable, and let mother nature take its course.

Priority is FF safety, human life, animals, asset protection then enviromental protection, containment then extinguishing.

I tunneled my way through the massive swarm of gate lice
Just interested to know why anyone would use this phrase? Not sure whether it is appropriate even in jest....

I believe I was the author of said phrase. 'Gate lice' refers to people who clog up the boarding area (specifically around the GAs and boarding pass readers) when it's clearly not their turn to board. This is not so much a problem elsewhere - but on a flight to/from mainland China it seems like there is no concept of queueing up AT ALL.

And no I did not mean that in jest. EDITED TO ADD:In fact, IMHO - 'gate lice' is almost too kind a phrase, if there wasn't a '6 images' limit per post you'd have seen a few frown or rolling eye smileys in the same sentence.

Well the 100,000th post is finally drawing to a close.

Are people still interested in these contests continuing every 10,000 posts? I find them exciting and a nice distraction.

How about a 10,000th AFF member thread?

Any thoughts?

The 10,000 post threads are very interesting, I guess they get more interesting if your guess is very close.

If you want off topic then read FT OMNI forum; now that is way OT.
