If you're an IT business analyst, please look away now....

:evil::evil::evil::evil::evil::evil::evil::evil::evil:

Stupid IT dept making decisions on whats best for us, without even consulting us, asking for our opinions, asking us to evaluate or offer alternatives. I can't help but wonder what ulterior motives they have. They have just mandated use of a particular software package, that in my discipline is *known* for its failings more than its offerings.

As one of my managers said, "just because it uses electrons, they think they own it".....I am certain once upon a time IT was a support function..

The computer says NO!!! :p

My work gripes are of a far less technical nature today today.

Last night I took some colleagues out for dinner and a few cheeky pints (er... of water ;)). I'm a little bit disappointed that my colleague who is 10 years my junior, drunk less than me, and went home before me has decided to call in sick today... Kids these days *shakes head*:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Thats terrible. The yoof of today. Don't they know sick days aren't really for being sick?

Good lord!

What dastardly stuff was in the pints of water??!
Posted on a wing and a prayer ...

I'm getting it all wrong. I have had a shocking cold (man flu I'm told!) since I got back from the UK last week and am taking a couple of days annual leave to get over it.:?:

Thats even worse then taking it as sick leave! No no what you should do is walk into work, and meet with as many people as possible.. You're doing the whole office a favour by just showing up afterall!

Hmmm... interesting. At times it works the over way around, viz. the IT department given an unreasonable target with minimal resources and yet expected to make the mythical lever that can move the world.

Whats pissing me off though, for the last 5yrs i've been toiling away as a subject matter expert, trying to get a change inculture to happen, that takes the discipline away from being driven by software to more of a process and software-independent mechanism. And its been a real battle. Along comes CIO with associated lapdogs and in the stroke of an email click, they "make things happen"...I'll just watch the self congratulatory back slapping, followed by the "oops moment" followed by the sounds of doors closing.

I worked with a guy once, who called in sick after a work dinner (on a Tuesday night) and blamed bad seafood. I had the same seafood so it made me wonder why I was there answering the phone.

But we all know that only 1 oyster in the lot you buy works and that SWMBO never eats it.:p;):lol::oops:

I have noticed the last 3 years their has been some nasty colds and flu's circulating around. Quite a few people I know actually have had pneumonia and two actually spent time in hospital.

Don't you love your fellow employees (especially the managers) who insist they never get sick, yet turn up to work spreading more diseases then typhoid Mary!

Just sitting in the DRW QP and lo and behold see a B52 landing on rwy 29 with bright yellow drag chute deployed. Don't see that everyday (although there is one in the museum across the airport)

Sick days aren't there for when you are sick.

Better off going to work while you are sick so you can infect as many people as possible. Just as well I have been on flu shots since 1999 and have only had the flu 3 times in that time where as it used to knock me out at least 3 times a year.

Guy at work this week has been sniffling very loud early in week then appeared to get better and today was sniffling again. He is less than 2 metres away from me and I worry as I have a week immune system (thanks to immune suppresants) and don't want to come down with something again.

OK this is one for conspiracy experts-
