Last time it was one of the airport cleaners who did some vacuuming.

The problem being that in order to plug in the hoover to the power point she needed to unplug something else which happened to being the metal detector intending passengers walk through.
Are you serious obb? Would it not just be plain old common sense to permanently hard wire the metal detector? Is there some valid reason why this is not the case??

The reports say it was a problem at the Virgin end. Was this the cause of the problem?

Either way, really dumb on both counts (cleaner and the security checkpoint staff).

Having had to deal with security people at times I'm not surprised. They can be so focused on security that they lose sight of the forest.

Yep sometimes logic just doesn't make sense sometimes.

One of our generators had a cut over switch and the installer plugged it in to the 240v socket.

When we had our first power failure we lost power after the UPS went flat in about 10 mins.

Apologies if this is a bit too on topic, however today (20 Oct) is the international day of the air traffic controller. So to all those who keep us away from everyone else in the sky, here's cheers.

Well said, after all that amazing equipment we saw at the Airways Museum I couldn't agree more :)

We all praise the Pilots for a safe flight but those men and women are what makes our pilots safe as well.

This reminds me of the story of Bed #8.

A hospital in JNB, or any other place we want to cast in a bad light, has a death every Sunday night in bed #8 in ICU. If you go into bed #8, you're screwed, NMW. The locals got religious or superstitious, depending on belief system.

Turns out the cleaners unplugged the ventilator to plug in the Hoover every Sunday night to do the extra you beaut polishing job, as opposed to the quick regular clean. Unfortunately long enough for the patient to expire...

The Cleaners need their own power points!

This is so true, we have our own "high risk of misadventure bed", unfortunately the risk is not dependent on cleaning activity ;)

I still recall being put into quarantine when I presented to a hospital with flu like symptoms after being in Asia.
Good times. Didn't die or infect the entire population with bird flu... turned out to be a mix of regular flu and dehydration. Something I had never experienced before ... and not a good combination.

Just avoid bed #8 & you'll be ok.

1 game of hockey down this morning, off to the next now. Let's see how the body feels tomorrow! Maybe I'll be in bed#8! ;)

OH in the priority security line at SEA this morning:

(imagine incredulous pre-teen American voice)
Travelling with Dad is like having a FastPass at Disney!!

You do realise one day you'll have to let your Little Miss know what it's like to line up with the non-elites in Economy, right? ;)

Don't let Miss M have the big crash to reality. If your good parents will make sure she has LTG by the time she is 16.

If you want to see economy queues then line up for an Air Asia flight in BKK. I never want to go through that experience.
