Re: Seeking Help / Advice

Anybody out there in FF land have any degree of knowledge regarding Cloud data services as opposed to physical in house servers.

Have had brief preliminary discussions with Telstra today but thought might be worth asking questions if any of you extremely knowledgeable characters have any experience with other more affordable providers?

What services are you trying to host in the cloud? Happy for you to PM me to discuss further.

+1 for a JohnK "my 10 day holiday" TR.
I shall try but need to learn how to upload photos first.

Would be a great comparison of what you're getting, what the golf courses, hotel rooms and "restaurants" are like.
The golf courses are great. After a while most restaurants are the same.

You always (last trip excluded - not sure what happened....) have a great time so would be an interesting read ....
Unfortunate but these things happen. Trip was a nightmare. I was sick before I left and was not 100%. I was also depressed and looking forward to the holiday. I got sick again over there (some sort of throat infection), the golf was terrible (worst golf trip ever for me in Thailand) and a few people let me down (including myself) which is not what I needed. There were other issues as well. Everything that could possibly go wrong went wrong and felt like I was living a nightmare. And the last night in Taipei did not help either.

I really did not the like the area I have stayed the past 18 months or so in Pattaya so I am going back to where I stayed before and felt comfortable. Hopefully a few early nights, better golf and stay in control at all times should make a better trip next time.

OK I used a bit of artistic licence there... maybe we should also set that as a goal... ;)

Teach the other kids the difference between the QP, dom J Lounge, and FLounge.
Teach the other kids how to pack carry on.
Learn some motion sickness avoidance techniques ;)

You are mad! :p

Oh and I really do not understand why you want to throw away that much money on hotel rooms you are not going to use. Geylang would have been perfect especially for Saturday night dinner as it is only a few minutes away. ;)

Not that I'd know....but rooms available by the hour in that area

Memorise the IATA codes for the major airports in Australia and New Zealand ;)

More than likely in some hotels.

Rooms were clean, sheets were clean, towels were clean, hardly any noise and I had great sleep on the comfortable beds. They will continue to get my business when I am looking to save money.

Also they need to teach kids at school how to use an I pad and watching TV at the same time.

I agree with cleanliness, and you can't complain about the price, but the Hotel 81 I stayed in a few years ago was so noisy, I believe that guest's in rooms either side were not feeling the best with all the moaning and groaning going on

From memory this was the place Hotel 81-Tristar (Singapore): See 102 Reviews and 23 Photos - TripAdvisor , was only there for one night which was fine for me, still a very interesting area though and good value accomidation / interesting food around these parts

How did you know there was a calculator in her grade 1 booklist???

I was merely guessing, but then again kids these days... my cousin was barely 2 years old and she was able to use my aunt's iPhone.

A basic calculator or scientific? Or, are iPhones acceptable? :p

I suppose logically (pun intended) moving towards something more productive that is easily used by the electronic generation would be the next step.

Of course, I hold little hope for this generation in terms of estimation skills and mental arithmetic.

I didn't use a calculator in the classroom until Grade 4, and we didn't have a calculator as a permitted material during exams until the end of Grade 8.

But I hope her classroom teacher covers the calculator basics ...;)

Riiiight... which means addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, right? Not "push this button and this is a...", or "type 5317707 into your calculator then turn it upside-down"....

So as I understand the Oysters not very fresh in the restaurant so would not eat there.

Wonder what benefits they could offer in a loyalty scheme :?:

Little Miss Simo is going to Kindy next week.

So I have been told that she can not have an I phone to take to school.

It was if she is not sure about anything Siri can help her out.

I haven't stayed at that one. From memory that is one of the pricier Hotel 81's.

There does appear to be mixed reviews with a lot of these budget hotels and I am one those people who likes to have their own opinion on hotels not someone else's opinion....

Saw some lovely pictures of London (Canary Wharf) covered in snow and I think of that when I hop into my car and the steering wheel is almost too hot to touch.
Several airports were closed yesterday in Europe due to snow and ice.

Caught the train into Kent today. Amazing snow landscapes. I hate walking on ice but do not mind snow really. The biggest issue is that many locals switch into "grumpy" mode or hide out at home.
then of course there are the travel issues...

The snow-scape might be hard to picture as Melbourne heats up again on Thursday. :/
