The Unloved WP Thread

I am finding all of this very confusing! Not sure what to do about my FF status with airlines now....

Currently sitting at 3610 status credits with QFF but its due to expire 1st July so no idea if I will get WP1. If I don't get this I am thinking of moving all my travel over to CX as I have just been offered Marco Polo Club Diamond status from CX (Amex benefit) and it would not be that hard to keep this status.

Hmmm decisions to be made.

Congrats. Way to go!

At least with CX Diamond you know what your benefits are. With WP and WP1, well we will just need to wait for the "Enhancements".

I just blew off 3,200 SC end of April and will probably do the equivalent of 4,000 SC this year. As I fly in the US a lot, I'm going to maintain WP and get AA EXP for the very generous US benefits. I don't expect WP1 to equal or even come close to the combined benefits of the 2 memberships.

Poor poor platinums. Better book in a visit with your therapists this week.

The sooner you all go across to Virgin the better for those of us staying, less busy lounges, less competition for upgrades.

Sounds a lot like the argument from those people who said similar at the removal of Any Time Access to me.

Some people don't understand that the fact you fly so much means you should be entitled to some comforts along the way.

There has been no removal of lounge benefits/comforts in this round of frequent flyer changes so your post is irrelevant.

Don't bite the bait. ;)

The argument previously was that by removing people from the lounge, via one form or another, the lounge would be a nicer place.

Not irrelevant.

But still, I really need to learn not to feed the trolls. It's counter-productive.

Some thoughts about my loyalty bonus and management of it in the lead up to 1 December. I need 17 more flights before the end of my "year" and 11 flights of those flights for my next (old) loyalty bonus. Seems to me I need to move at least 6 flights away from qantas and preferably more, as I also need another 17 flights between the end of my year and 1 December.

I'm just mentioning this in case anyone hasn't made a similar appreciation for true loyalty bonus position.

That's a pretty narrow view. It seems obvious to me that the current changes are part of a continuum of change that started with the round last year and will continue with WP1 in Q4 2011 and maybe beyond. As Red Roo mentioned they didn't put together a business case in 5 minutes, and i doubt it was 6 months either, just to pick up the suggestions from AFF. I do have hope that WPs will get something with the next round of changes. But I'd prefer not to have that uncertainty.

Cmon guys, play nice :)

Dazz, you're not technically wrong, but no need to deliberately bait.

FWIW - I think the relevant view is that it's a loyalty program by QF to retain (and try to increase) customer spend and loyalty.

How the program (and it's "enhancements") affects your "loyalty" (AKA future spend) is very personal and subjective.

People are permitted to express their views about which way their loyalty will be affected.

And whether twice the spend to attain platinum delivers twice the benefits over gold is a legit question....

Well of course your view is much more broad, important and correct. my mistake also....

Did you miss the straight face smiley or something? I did make a mistake and miswrote/misspoke. You did make a statement and I totally agree it is a correct statement. I don't think I made any judgement about correctness or otherwise of taking a broad or narrow view. At least I didn't intend to do so. Sorry for offending. Again nothing wrong with viewing these changes as being discrete. But I do think that we are in the middle of a series of change, where the broad direction has been determined. Similarly to the DJ/velocity revamp.

Oh and my view is no more or less important

Members wanted extra WP benefits (extra points/valet thing), they got it.
These are not extra WP benefits. I'm a WP, but I won't get them.

These are PG benefits, now only available when you've attained Platinum twice over (2400 SCs).
Well .... now that acronym doesn't even really make sense, since it's no longer just Partner Gold.

Instead of PG, maybe it should now be called DP : Double Platinum

Hmm, let's not go there.

I am really surprised on the size of both threads and the negativity shown towards Qantas.

Qantas have added improvements to both the domestic J and international lounges.

Compared to any of the US Airlines lounges then the Qantas lounges are miles in front.

But I would still like some confirmed systemwide upgrades, as a Platinum. :p
