The Velocity Status Run Master thread

Still some gems around from time to time as far as paid fares go, the recent Malaysian based EY specials are a case in point, although they seem to have gone now.

What is the criteria for access? I see regularity is important but as a newbee i assume that needs to be over a period of time??

Lobo76 will get back to you. "Patience grasshopper". ;)

How many SCs do you need, and how many points do you have to burn?

Still awhile off presently, but with the number of planned trips, I would get close... very close indeed.... It would just be a matter of chucking a Status Run in there and... BINGO! :)

Have ze access now (Thank You Lobo :) ) - Now is it me, or does the sheet need.... Updating.... Atleast I can't find the best Cash Status Run on the sheet....

I can't find anything on this either for the dates in the upcoming double SC offer. Anybody find any new runs from MEL?

If you are after QF mASA runs have a look at this spreadsheet:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AvpG2hDkgv4fdHY3U3k1MThWMF9SVGh0cHp5RWdVeXc&usp=sharing

There are two spreadsheets in common use on the forum. The above one is purely for QF points flights and are made up of public data. Lobo76's "AFF Status Runs" sheet is for those flights that are not published as they may be a bit 'sneaky' in their construction.

Hmm, 450 points to keep platinum and this double SC offer crops up, definitely a good time to get fiddling with routes again :)

Hi everyone. First time posting here. Would like to say thanks to all those who have contributed to the Cheap Int'l Airfares board, made booking family holiday to Europe in June much easier (cheaper).

I need 295 SC by Apr 17th to reach WP for the first time, should have 150 SC coming through the Velocity Amex deal and probably 60 SC from work flying between now and then.
Planning on a SC run ex-MEL for the rest (85 SC) - will let you know how I get on. Assume I am best off looking at multi-sector flexi in economy?

Edit: some stupid questions: is there an easy way to work out SC earn on VA flights, or do you need to know the distance in miles between each airport to work it out using their table?
Is a flight MEL-SYD-OOL booked as MEL-OOL but with a change in SYD counted as 2 flights from a SC earn point of view?

Hi Dom, the VFF website has a SC calculator.
https://www.velocityfrequentflyer.com/content/Earn/StatusCredits/
Your flights MEL-SYD-OOL will be counted as two separate sectors for SC earn :)

Is MEL/NTL/MEL on Flexi still as cheap as I remember it? That would be the first option. Could also tack on NTL/BNE/NTL if that is similarly so cheap (so ending up with MEL/NTL/BNE return, pricing however May be better to best the NTL/BNE return inside the MEL/NTL return.

Hi all - I'm a Velocity Gold currently sitting on 875 points. I've a trip to the States in late March and wouldn't mind hitting Platinum. I have 4 work trips Sydney to Melb that will get me about 80 SCs (work has cut back on flexi fares). I have about $200 in travel bank and am prepared to do a quick trip (and obviously pay a bit) to Gold Coast or Adelaide from Sydney. Are these still the best legs to jump on? My trips are all ex Sydney

If you can hit WP & get your WP card before you go, do it. Nothing worse than hitting a new level OS & not having the right card while over there.

I noticed during my latest US trip that I purchased DL tickets as silver & it still showed silver on the DL tickets despite being gold. I ended up with most of the perks I was entitled to.

You'll especially appreciate the priority security, boarding & luggage over there.

So it looks like your currently going to be 45SC short after your work trips . I would suggest you do a status run SYD-MEL-OOL-SYD or vv . SYD-MEL / MEL-OOL as a saver lite which will net you 25SC , then do OOL-SYD as a Flexi which will get you 20 SC . You can pick up a flexi OOL-SYD or SYD-OOL for around $175 . The whole trip should cost you around $350 if you can get them on sale fares.

Hi guys .. I'm looking to earn 170SC's before heading overseas in May. I'm thinking about booking a Y-fare SYD-BNE-TSV-BNE-SYD run (all on same day) and then upgrading to J with points. I reckon that'll net me 160SC's at 4.35/SC. Does that sound OK? Looking for feedback from some of the more experienced SC run guys..
