The Velocity Status Run Master thread

Hi guys .. I'm looking to earn 170SC's before heading overseas in May. I'm thinking about booking a Y-fare SYD-BNE-TSV-BNE-SYD run (all on same day) and then upgrading to J with points. I reckon that'll net me 160SC's at 4.35/SC. Does that sound OK? Looking for feedback from some of the more experienced SC run guys..

Sorry to be bearer of unfortunate news, though you don't get J SCs on upgrades. You earn SCs at the original fare-paid rate. So only 80 SCs for those 4 sectors with Flexi Fares. 40 SCs only with Saver fares.

If you can get to BNE, BNE-CNS in J (buying) is reasonable value @ $499 each way for 60 SCs each way.

(P.s. Add a discount code http://www.australianfrequentflyer....ralia-10-off-bookable-54931-3.html#post990380 and it's even better value).

Ah poo .. 80 point is still not bad. I still have some 2FORONE options up my sleeve, so I might take the Mrs on a trip somewhere before we go. Thanks kevrosmith

So i've managed to attain Gold Status, and with 10-12 upcoming domestic legs over the next 3 months should secure it for another year :)

I have some free time between March 25 - April 13 after visiting family and friends in Melbourne so will be looking for an Overseas holiday option that will bring some awesome memories whilst also earning me some significant Status Points (don't mind taking a detour here or there especially if it gives me a stopover at somewhere i've never been) at the same time to try and hit platinum.

I generally fly on saver/flexi economy fares and will be in Melbourne on the 25th but happy to commute to Syd/Bris/GC to secure a great deal.
(Actually need to get back home to GC for domestic flight on April 14)

So far in my travels i've done a whirlwind trip of the US (Would love to go back though...may be a bit short on time though?), Philippines, Thailand, Beijing, Fiji, Kuala Lumpur.

I'm more of a flash packer, don't need all the luxuries in the world as long as I'm out and about exploring cities, going on adventures etc im happy.

Any ideas for the 19 day adventure would be greatly appreciated :)

Just a quick check... might have found a half decent SCs run MEL-NZ
Am I right in thinking Biz MEL-SYD-AKL-HLZ (all VA flight numbers) would yield 140 SCs each way?

I'm not sure if i asked this before, but what is the criteria for access to this document? I would like to plan a status run and can position myself anywhere but interested in some more obscure routes.

You need to have been a member for a 'while' and have 'about' 100 posts. I am not a gatekeeper, so only surmising.

Please help :)

Needing 85 SC.

Ex any eastern seaboard destination (have a free return flight to anywhere) so could get to the Ex city and back

Normally Ex SYD

Looking for the best value making use of DSC

EDIT*: Want to get as close as possible to 85 SC. As that will mean gold. But dont want extra SC's as I believe you loose the excess points when you level up?

Is B28 still the best bang-for-buck out there?

*edit* doesn't look like it, it's a) gone up substantially and b) not bookable online (so the current 10% off can't be applied). It shows up in matrix, albeit at a greatly increased cost (so bookable via agent/phone only).
