The Velocity Status Run Master thread

hey All, i'm flying syd- per and back in may, and need 120 SC to maintain platinum by june. i *may* be flying more before my requal comes up in june but i want to knock this on the head with this trip for safety. Any advice on whether flexi vs business to get me the best SC for lowest dollar would be greatly appreciated :)

A flexi connecting via MEL or BNE can be had for under $1600 which would get you the 120 SC's

Hi all - I have 80 SC to earn Velocity platinum for the first time - but need to get there in 2 weeks before statuses start dropping fast! Any ideas travelling ex BNE? My other half has family pooling activated, so two of us can travel if need be. What's the cheapest way to do this?

A couple of suggestions for that will net you 80 SC . This is based on you taking your partner and family pooling thier SC back to you

I have added a few options ex OOL for you to consider , as there are usually cheaper fares .

1. OOL-SYD Return. ( 2 trips required ) Saver Lite fares from around $69 o/way ... Estimated Cost $552

2. OOL-xSYD-MEL Return ( 1 trip required ) Saver Lite fares from $139 o/way ... Estimated Cost $556

3. BNE-xSYD-MEL Return. ( 1 trip required ) Saver Lite fares from $145 o/way ... Estimated Cost $580

4. BNE-SYD Return. ( 2 trips required ) Saver Lite fares from around $79 o/way ....Estimated Cost $632

5. BNE-PER Return. ( 1 trip required ) Saver Lite fares from $185 o/way ... Estimated Cost $740

Good Luck .

I use webjet and am looking at most sat/sundays in may/june .....i find i cant do multi flights on VA site...and even with the $30 webjet fee GRRRR its still cheap..:)

I really hope I'm doing this mileage thing right..oh well...will live and learn.:)

so I just do syd-ool and scroll down to see which flights go via mel or adl....i really would like to do the canberra one but that's a tad expensive...oh and all flights are the cheapest saver..they still get SC and flight eligibility don't they???

gwilli1 thanks for the quick response

I can't see any reason why they wouldn't earn points & SC as long as you quote your Velocity No. in the booking .

Does anyone know any different ?

I must admit I have never used webjet to book any flights .

Amazing deal.. I was also looking ADL-OOL same day and couldn't find anything under $140!!

I find webjet good for general research, Or I use an APP called AUflight. I find webjet doesn't allow much routing to increase SC.

However Just booked a bunch of Domestics, that will take me well over the Platinum threshold. No bargains using the double SC sales sadly. Yay!

so quick question...if I do my 4 flights and are eligible then to be gold, how long does it take to update my status?? same day? instantaneous? four weeks??

Usually ticks over on the Velocity site next business day once you have the required status credits; Coning from recent personal experience :)

Gents have any of you had your double sc's credited to your account where you used the friend link provided here for the double sc promotion rather than the actual email?

Evening all, have learnt alot from reading this forums, much appreciated! I am currently Silver on 300 points and would like to get the remaining points for Gold before the end of May, so I can use the privileges on my already booked VA honeymoon/3month trip to the US in July. My fiances status points are pooled and she has a Melbourne-->Syd flight booked for work but isn't a great fan of flying, hence trying to make our US trip as comfortable as possible, so a few points will be earned there, but it will be me solo in trying to attain the rest.

I was thinking maybe a SC run from Melbourne to Auckland via Brisbane and back which can be had for around $1200ish at the moment Premium Economy which should get me close to home for gold. How are the points calculated for this, is it Premium Economy points earned on both legs or just the Brisbane to Auckland leg and back?

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Booked 2x TSV-BNE-TSV flights for myself & the missus this weekend to go to the A-League grand final. This will tick me over 500 status credits and onto gold! Wooooo :D

I expect that you would earn the SCs for the class of service actually flown for each leg.

Thanks Jessica, that's what I'm thinking, so the question would be, if booking through VA a premium economy flight from MEL to AKL which routes you via BNE, what seat class are you given for the domestic leg?

Make a dummy booking online and try seat selection during the process - see what cabin the offered seats for the domestic segments are in ...
