The Velocity Status Run Master thread

Good idea serfty! So reading the fine print at the bottom of the booking it says that both domestic legs will be booked as business which makes for a great earner of 240 status points by my calculations. Not bad at all and gets me to gold! With my international trip later in the year maybe platinum won't be too far off the cards if I play it right with all the tips I've learnt from this forum. Thanks guys!

Good to hear. Certainly beats the pants off the QF '!'

Hi all.. I am not very familiar with Velocity so was wondering if I could get some advice...

I am currently 50 status credits short of silver, I have the sectors already. I have just booked (another) family holiday to Bali from Brisbane in August for 5 of us... all their points and status credits are pooled to me.

The question I have is there any benefit in getting 50 status credits and silver before I go?

thanks.

Whether there is value or not depends on your own preferences I guess. At the very least you'd be up for getting some extra FF points returned to you and probably some extra baggage allowance.

Hitting silver gets you two lounge passes, but not sure if BNE-DPS will benefit or not if you're ticketed with VA.

With 5 of you all pooling together you'll be gold in no time and I reckon thats well worth hitting and keeping, plat even better of course.

Thanks for that. I couldn't see any standout reason - we already have too much baggage allowance - 120kgs each way!

Just back from the weekend in Brisbane. I see the status credits & points for my flight on Saturday has been credited into my account, now sitting on 500 status credits & completed more than enough sectors but they haven't changed my status to gold yet. I thought that would automatically change once I get to 500 SC. I've stil got today's flight to be credited into my account yet also.

Can take a couple of days for the status to click over. Hopefully it will click over before the SC's from your flight today register, otherwise I fear they will be consumed by "the black hole" :-|

I am planning a status run CBR-MEL-PER-DRW. It requires eight hours in PER from Midnight to 8am departure. How should I kill time in the wee hours of the morning. Will I be kicked out the of the terminal until the lounge opens again?

Well my status has ticked over to gold this morning, the points & SC's from yesterday's flight are yet to be credited to my account though I wouldn't expect that to happen until later this morning. Wait & see I guess.

You may be able to request ORC (original routing credit) but you won't get it if you don't ask.

Thanks so much..I rang VA and they said that I would receive ORC....he had to talk to a supervisor, but that's a great outcome.....now what do I do for 3 hrs in OOL before my flight home :(

If anyone fancies a trip MEL-DPS (I'm looking at Nov.) there's some pretty good SC's on offer. 110 SC's for $850ish (saver).

Good result.

And yes, beach is a short walk away.
