The Velocity Status Run Master thread

Thanks for the help again guys!

Tempting with those options, now I just need to decide when I want to do it!!

Thanks again. :)

Currently in status grace period. Review date was June 12th. Is the one month period a fixed period? I need 50SC to renew and I am about to book ADL>AKL>YVR (20SC + 40SC) however departure is on the 11th. In the past, AirNZ take a few days to post the SC's.. Would this be too late or is there some leeway in the system?

Thanks

gotta love twitter :)

According to their Twitter rep "You need to have earned 400 Status Credits before your review date to maintain (status)". So basically anything earned in the grace period just goes towards the next year. Damn, looks like I've missed out on renewing for this year!

According to this page: https://www.velocityfrequentflyer.com/content/ProgramBenefits/JargonBuster/

"Grace Period: This is the two months between your Review Date and when your Status Benefits expire. If your Status Level isn’t upgrading or staying the same, we give you two months’ grace to enjoy your Silver or Gold Benefits before they end. "

I have the sneakiest of sneaky feelings that the page is out of date, or there are some other things well amiss with that page
This 12-month period is initially based on the month you joined Velocity. If you earn 20,000 Status Credits within six months of joining, you’ll immediately rise to Silver Status and can start enjoying Silver benefits from then until your next Review Date – this is known as your Immediate Benefits Period.
I would hope that 20,000 Status Credits would get you something a bit more than silver!

Was finally able to put in a retro claim last Friday for my NZ flight on the 6th. Points and SC's landed on Sunday. Fantastic turnaround time, and that was the 20 SC's I needed for SG. Account is now "under review" :D

Does this mean we don't have the SC 'black hole' during the review period (like yo do when waiting to jump up a status level)?

my review date was 17th June, and since the 19th I've racked up 220 SC, so from the sounds of this they'll be counted towards my WP requal in 2015

I would be donating $1100 to charity before I would:

a) waste it on VA 737 Y+ (you're wasting hundred and hundreds of dollars on a pie and a can of coke); or
b) waste it on a status run to make VFF Silver.

Have a closer look at what's posted, it's more than a pie and coke ;)

Hi all, been browsing for a bit and thought it was time to post something... I just got a sale email with $65 flights from Sydney to Byron, travel from late July to Mid September. From what I've read that's probably not too bad a price for a small status credit run? Or maybe to be used in conjunction with another flight out of Byron?

$65 is pretty much standard for a sale out of Byron , although it sometimes can go as low as $59 . As for doing a status run , the only flights in/out of Byron on VA are to Sydney and its only 1 flight / day , so you would turning around and flying back straight away on the same a/c that you arrived on.

If you looking for good value for doing a status run , look at flight to/from the Gold Coast (OOL) You can get some real bargains out of there . A few ideas for status runs are SYD-OOL-MEL-SYD or SYD-OOL-ADL-SYD or v.v . These can be good value when when on sale. If you need any further advise let me know , being based in SYD myself , I have done quiet a few status runs over the years .

Hi all! I have been a bit slack this year, and now am scrambling to keep my points up to retain my status. So, I need ideas for a status run that will get me 70 SCs, that I can do in one day, and that preferably won't cost an arm and a leg. Probably me and partner travelling (I get his SCs)... Need a one dayer that we can do on a Saturday or Sunday.

Any ideas gratefully accepted...thought I should take advantage with the sales that seem to be popping up regularly.
