Anyone got any good suggestions for using 4x TWO41 deals from Melbourne? I'm cutting it close as I need to lock it in before 31st March :(

Try KGI. At $359 base level fare best way to maximise value from the discount :p

Depends what you're after though. If you have 4, you can do connecting flights too which may help. I normally get good value MEL-PER-MEL, last time was $560 ret for 2 over Christmas

The TWO41 doesn't seem to be that great when you look at the base fare vs the sale for the same route at the moment.

Regularly (and I mean regularly) more expensive than sale fares. Infuriatingly the staff on the line have rarely seen the ridiculousness of this and have defended the benefit to me. There is so much for an organisation to gain from admitting something is stupid.

Anyone found any good status runs with the current '9 day epic sale' ?

Best I've been able to find is LST to OOL via MEL for ~$142 for 25 status credits.

I too am after status credits! I currently only have 90, but looking to get up to gold/platinum again.
Have a few 100k worth of points but not impressed not being able to redeem them for any decent airfares (business class).

Any ideas for what kind of flights get the most bang for buck? Located in Darwin.

Transfer to Krisflyer and book J/F seats on SQ. Is the only way I use my VFF points

Is that better value David, even after the loss of points in the exchange? Or just better availability? I have read of others doing this but have not done so myself. Thanks

When booking with Krisflyer you received a 15% discount, only downside is the fines & taxes are around the $600 mark (MEL-BKK)

VA often have availability as well, this will cost you more points (if can find a seat) but you will pay less fines & taxes. I've never had a problem finding a seat on SQ, if flexible on travel dates

Hey guys, I'm currently silver with
410 cc. I need 90 more for 500 and gold. Will a trip from BNE --> LAX do?

Also, if I have gold status, can I check in as a family and use the gold checking/boarding line if my family members don't have gold status?

Not sure about the 90, but family can use the priority checkin and boarding lanes when you travel with them. My wife and I travel together often, I am gold nearly plat, she is red. No problems with priority domestic or international.

BNE > LAX one way is 40SC, 80SC return in Y.
Yes on the family question.

BNE-LAX direct is 40SC in Y so a return is 80, but to nab the extra 10 is easy! Just choose an outbound that is BNE-SYD-LAX then you pick up the extra 10 SC from the BNE-SYD leg :) There's your 90, welcome to Gold :)

As per previous replies yes you can take your family with you when checking in and boarding etc and they piggyback off your status.

Is surely better value than BNE-LAX. Seems a long way to go for a status run, unless you are already going there anyway

Take your wife to Melbourne for the weekend, BNE-MEL on flexi Y is 30SC each, with family pooling that gives you 120SC. Same with BNE-CNS

Thanks guys! I'm going to Sydney this June and LA and NYC in August. Was hoping to get gold before the LA trip to upgrade to business seats using points but I guess it's not possible :( 1

Plenty of time between now and June to get the 90SC you need.

With regards to upgrading using points, lately there has been stuff all availability on those flights. Might be worth checking to see if anything is available before chasing the status.

Hi All..

First time in a few years struggling to hang onto Gold! Lost Plats last year.. I need 180SC before 8th June.. Looking for a status run that I can enjoy some Sun.. mebbe.. Fly out of Mel or Syd.. hmtown ABX. any help appreciated.. was thinking a Bus or Premeco Airnz Mel-Auk min 180 bloody exe and no sun.

Thank you david! Do you have any suggestion as to how I can get gold before August? I did book a flight to Sydney on Saver but that will only score me 20 SC.

I assume home base is Brisbane? If so BNE-SYD in saver is 10SC each way, 20SC each way in Flexi, and 40 each way in Business. Obviously you pay more for the Flexi and business. So look for multi leg flights.

Example BNE-HBA direct will net 15SC in saver, 30SC in Flexi and 60SC in business.
But BNE-MEL-HBA will net same SC's as above for the BNE-MEL, and same again for MEL-HBA.
Total return direct nets 30SC in saver, 60SC Flexi, 120SC in business,
total return via MEL nets 60SC in saver, 120SC Flexi, 240SC in business.
If you family pooled with you wife double again. Obviously there are many other options these are flights I do regularly so watch my SC closely.

Cheers and good luck Eternaix.
