The Velocity Status Run Master thread

Hi - thanks for replying. It is solely to get credits for a status run.
Cool.

As you'd like to get to VA Gold, you'd need 500SC and 4 eligible flights with VA in the 365 day period. With the DSC promo currently on, depending on where you are based, you can take a one stop business class flight and get at least 220SC (normal 110SC) out of that trip. Repeat the same trip once again and add another business leg somewhere you'd get to Gold

From there on, you'd need another 500SC more in the same year and 4 more eligible flights (8 in total) with VA to get to Platinum.

Criteria for eligible VA flights - is any flight that is operated by VA on VA flight number.

To get better fares try and find mid-week flights and explore a variety of destinations - HBA/LST, OOL, ADL etc. I usually take CBR-MEL-ADL in J and return for 440SC. However, don't do CBR-SYD or SYD-CBR as those routes are operated by Saab340 and they don't have business class seats. You do get business class status credits and points, but you won't be sitting in a business class seat.

Where possible (read : always) don't fly direct. Always connect to get more status credits, points & eligible flights. Our motto in AFF is "why fly direct, when you can connect" :cool:

Any more queries, please feel free to reach out.

Alternatively, if you are flying solely for the purpose of accruing status and don't fly regularly (or on a semi-regular basis) - you may want to think about why you need to accrue status and how are you going to enjoying the benefits that status brings. Just food for thought, goes without saying, you are welcome to do what makes you happy :)

I booked business class Melbourne to Brisbane earlier today and ZXW75 reduced the fare from $399 to $373.

Mate looked early today and questions that BUSINESS CLASS FLIGHT under $500 even with code? Was a future flight cause definitely not for today or tomorrow!

I am looking for advice on how to get 190 SC (i.e. 95 SC with the promotion) before mid September. Parameters:
* ex-CBR
* need 2 eligible sectors
* I can only travel at weekends, although I could do a Sydney/Melbourne return after work provided I get back the same night.
* trying to minimise cost, ideally <$500 but I really have no idea what's possible.

Thank you for any suggestions!

All Business for that trip!
Ok. Just did similar but to MCY. Thanks.

Thanks for your help. Trip booked. It's to maintain my Platinum status with DSC

Keen to retain gold and earn 220 status credits in the double status credit promotion.
Flying ex SYD - can be flexible on dates and routes (ideally all within a day).
Looking for suggestions on the cheapest J flights.

Anything that's $349/flight for Business and use a discount code. You could hang out in Melbourne or Brisbane for the day

Good shout. Also BNK for that fare?
I was hoping to go to Adelaide and check out their lounge but am guessing SYD-ADL via MEL or BNE won't be $349 fares!

SYD-MEL-ADE will be $349/flight (or $700 one way) if you're lucky but direct is $399. Going via BNE will cost even more and I heard some aren't even offering Business BNE-ADL (nor will they be a one-day thing unless you want to sit in an airplane all day)

Booked business class Sydney to Mackay - one leg is with Alliance Airlines. VA flight number - operated for virgin airlines. Does anyone know if this will be double status credits

CBR-MEL-ADL can be had for < 500 with the promo code.
That should get you 220 SC

Yes, QQ (Aliance) flights that are operated for VA under a VA flight number are treated as VA's own.

Yes it will credit however you won't get J service on the Alliance flight and you MAY have to ask for an original routing credit if it credits automatically as a Y fare. Would be interested to see what's on your itinerary in terms of fare classes.
