The Velocity Status Run Master thread

Orbitz have a discount code for 20% off all hotels, no block out dates. Book by 5th march for travel before June. SPRING20. Lowest room rate at our special place comes down to the cheapest room for $137 US ;)

Thanks for that code, just came in useful on a hotel booking in Perth.

Code doesn't seem to work for my preferred hotel (IHG group).

Stupid question, but you did try and book via Orbitz website yea? :)

Yes Sir, works on the website as well as the app, although I like it on the app better, much easier to compare hotels me thinks :)

Code doesn't work on some hotels, eg IC, Hilton, Hyatt. It's still 20% off so make use of it before it expires! :)

Ahh right... I'm thinking of rebooking my accommodation for my A47 trip ... jsut need to check the cancellation rules :P

I've just checked the T&Cs ... the hotels one says 14-2 days = $118 and less than 2 days = 100%... can deduce that > 14 days is free EXCEPT the Velocity HotelClub page says they charge a $25 ... which is nearly what I'd be saving by rebooking and I'd lose the Velocity points... so not really worth it... but I'm sure I'll use it for something!

Half way through booking a friend on this flight during lunch (At the credit card page, actually) and the flight disappeared. *Sigh*

I've got no idea about this mythical spreadsheet, but if someone could add me, that'd be great. (:

I remember a day Liam, when you had your finger on the pulse of every VA post, issue, bargain, update or special.

Have you been hiding under a rock recently? I told you moving to Melbourne was a bad idea ;)

You mean back when I had time? Unfortunately I've changed jobs and the number flights per year has gone from hundreds to less than 20. So I guess it's now more an interest than anything else...

Haven't heard much from you lately, hope everything is going okay weather wise on the GC!

I have the feeling he's busy flying ;)

Flying myself around, yep.

Yep, thanks for asking. I hate to sound ungrateful, but I am getting a wee bit sick of the rain. I now have a pair of floaties to get from the front door to the car.

Gold Coast, beautiful one day.....sodden the next .

(PS If anyone is curious about my red full stop, that our new GC logo that our illustrious leaders paid $180000 for are spending $500000 from our rates to promote. Clever hey?)

PM'd lobo76 last week but no reply so hope you have better luck than me. :)

Anyway, was getting frustrated with constantly being around 80 points short of Plat, I looked ahead to my planned trips combined with SC's dropping off and it seems I was destined to remain in the 900's!! So booked a short holiday for Mrs TickTheList and I BNS/CNS for a couple of months time using points & flying J. Gives me 240 SC's as I calculate it using around 100K points. Somewhat of an overkill but Mrs TTL doesn't fly much and I figured it would make a lovely start/end to our break. It seems that points and Family Pooling combo is a good way to gain SC's, around 400 points per SC.

I'm not sure how to phrase this question without giving too much information away

I couldn't find any A35 or A36 flights so I'm looking to book an A32 and an A31
the routing is
1.A to C via B (A32)
2.C to A via B (A31)

However I live in B

does anyone know if it's possible to change the routing so instead of flying
A-B-C-B-A
that I could fly
B-C-B-A-B

I ask because they are in J and T&C's seem to sound like changes/cancellations can be made without any additional fee

Which brings me to a second question, what would happen if I was a no show to the original A-B & B-A flights.
Could I complete the itinerary and call to reschedule a B-A-B return trip within 24hrs?

Can you follow my cryptic questions?

The point of this is you're booking a flight from A to C and choosing to the option via B. So in short I think you'll have a very hard time turning that into something you haven't booked in the first place.

Then the routing rules would general not allow you to return to your starting point twice.

I think someone has commented about the cancellation situation for a no show on the first leg. And again you should be booking A-C-A, that going via B is incidental.

As a general comment I'm shocked by the large amount of system gaming that is being proposed in this thread. It is probably worth remembering that some of these really great ideas that give you like 1000 status credits have no doubt been thought of already and blocked by the airlines.

The taxes component for my booked and ticketed A47 finally got charged to my CC this morning. (So far, it was showing as pending). Haven't heard anything from Virgin yet so I'm guessing they've decided to honour these mistake fares.

Anyone have any experience to the contrary?

For those off to A47 and are staying overnight or so, are you guys getting transfered to accomodation by hotel arrangements or taxi?
