The view from my "office"

@ellen10 , you mentioned you are dipping your toe with this visit to SIN. Are you planning any side trips?

No at @prozac Singapore is our only destination, 7 days. Spent some time yesterday with the wonderful concierge lady mapping out lots of activities, she had some good additional ideas. Usually we are very active whilst away but are trying to do some relaxing too. Bought some wine and gin duty free as suggested by @LadyC and below our hotel Raffles city has everything. Today off to the botanic gardens and booked the orchid house entry.
All suggestions welcome 😊

A couple of suggestions -:

Go to Changi Point, via MRT and bus to catch a bumboat across to Pulau Ubin. On the island you can hire a bike and ride through the jungle. There is also a nice boardwalk through wetlands. While you are out that way have a great cheap meal at the Changi Village Hawker Centre.

Another trip is to the Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve another MRT and bus trip. Migratory birds, large monitor lizards and the possibility of a crocodile or two.

Thanks for the ideas @OZDUCK I will investigate 😊
A couple of restaurant suggestions that many of us on AFF have visited.

ZamZam for Indian-Muslim food. It is on the corner of Arab Street and across the road from the Sultan Mosque. I usually have the Murtabak. Upstairs is air-conditioned.

Another fun place to visit is Muthu's Curry on Racecourse Road in Little India. A short walk from the Little India MRT. Meals are served on a Banana leaf and taste better when eaten with your fingers.

For a different shopping experience try Mustafa's in Little India. It is a 24 hour shopping experience. Do take note of the second websites suggestion to avoid weekend shopping. It is labyrinthine and can get oppressively crowded. Pretty much anything known to man is available there. It also has a very extensive gold jewellery section.

And two further suggestion for a nice walk in the 'country'. Both of these are very pleasant but do remember to take plenty of water. We took our time on both of these walks and didn't find them too difficult and we were at least in our late 50's when we did them.

One is to traverse the Southern Ridges Walk. It is 10km with plenty of things to see and good scenic views.

And the other is to climb up Bukit Timah Hill.

A les strenuous suburban walk is the Tanjong Pagar Heritage Trail in Chinatown. It is a very pleasant area to wander through.

Wow @OZDUCK we were just discussing where to eat tonight and I just opened your post! Just came back from the hotel pools ( which is something we have never done on an overseas holiday) we have swum many times in the ocean, but never at the hotel pool. Always too busy. Always time for firsts.

Thanks for the other tips too. 😊

Wine was surprisingly better value in SIN (than OZ) when I was last there a few months ago - wonders never cease..

The new National Museum of Egyptian Civilisation ( not to be confused with the Grand Egyptian Museum). Enormous grounds and building complex, modest display areas. But the visit is 9/10 for the display of ~20 royal mummies in an amazing gallery complex ( strict no photos 😕)
