The view from my "office"

A fantastic atmospheric carpark view overlooking the ring road.

Yesterday's office took us from Akureyri to Hvammstangi via the northern town of Siglufjörður, which played an important part in the early days of the Herring industry. The fog sitting over the fjord was cool, but as we got further around and it was still sitting over the roads next to the north Sea.. not cool! Stressful driving there as couldn't see barely a metre in front and the road was very windy with no barriers ;)

The first time I saw Bamburgh when I was driving along it was very much a WTF moment. Enjoy

Ah. We were there almost a year ago and didn't realise you were so interested. It was sunny then! The road in is interesting.
I have a Tas history research interest as well as general historical interest in Lindisfarne. But it was pee-ing down so I gave it and the castle a miss. More time in York. ( But see cheesing off thread)

I recognised it immediately as I was in that office in early January. Very enjoyable. Followed by Champagne, of course!
Or in my case, Bloody Mary.

Or a whiskey, enjoyed in my favourite private airport office.

Still a couple of good top shelf whiskey options available, but far fewer than before. Will ask next visit but suspect they are running down old stock and will revert to the standard offerings you get in QF’s other F lounges.

Kolugljúfur Canyon and Kirkjufell (Church Mountain), the car got a little bit...... filthy 🫢😁 ... thanks to some road work. Gravel? Not great, but in hindsight great. Sand where the car constantly felt like it was sliding around? Ah.. white knuckle stuff 😳 Got there in the end though. When Mrs FB commented the wind was strong (as we were moving around a bit) I didn't have the heart to tell her we were losing traction and maybe about to roll off the road into a ditch 🤣

Look, it's hard to compete with my earlier industrial port photo here in Oman but I'll give it a go.

Yes, the water is that colour. The monsoon will hit in a month and when that happens all the ground is covered, the hills turn green and the waterfalls even more spectacular. During tourist season, July - Aug, the usual 30 minute drive up the hills takes 3 hours. Euroceans.

The Beach. Pure white sand. Surf starting to pick up with the monsoon. The beach goes the whole way along the coast.

And then we have the camels. Roaming free.
