Similar view from the Supreme Court restaurant on the top floor. I don't think there is anything stopping you from catching the lift up for a feed.

Try and stay for more than one night - it is in the middle of nowhere but some other lovely towns nearby including Corbridge and lots of places along Hadrian's wall - will post more photos when I'm home. No internet coverage unless you have wifi

The Grade 2 listing rules are tough @VPS . It looks like they are not allowed to change the mattress too.

I used to horse ride a bit south of there in Cotherton near Barnard Castle. Lovely region.

Are you also going to Craster, Alnmouth, Low Newton etc. Some lovely coastal spots up there.

I had the great fortune to live in Warkworth for a couple of years. Played cricket for Alnwick and Sunday friendlies for Bamburgh Castle CC. (the cricket field is right next to the castle)

Lovely part of the world. Just remember to pronounce Alnwick as Arn-ick and Alnmouth as Alan-mooth and you’ll fit right in!

This morning we took the 6:56 train from Frankfurt to Strasbourg. This early departure was about half the price of departures at more civilized times. It was a comfortable trip of just under two hours,with reasonable leg room.



Our hotel luckily had a room ready for us, with a considerably better view than in Frankfurt. I was delighted to see a car park, even though it was only small and partially obscured.

I was thinking the same thing. I looked in the thread for people offering to guest plebs like me into the nicer hotel lounges but nothing posted by @drron

 

[Port Power]

A PERfect sunny Saturday for “Smoke on the Water” at Mindarie Marina. Delicious smoked pulled pork burgers and smoked beef brisket with coleslaw. Plenty of people coming through all afternoon. Some whiskey stalls, lots selling hot sauces.

I am allowed a guest but Mrsdrron has taken that spot.
