The view from my "office"

Was from the weekend before, but anyway.
James Reyne, Alex Hills Hotel.
Was heaps of fun and he rocked it for 67 years old.
I looked around the audience and thought "Gee there are a lot of old people here".
When I got home and looked in the bathroom mirror, I saw another one.

Don’t worry. You’re not old.

But the day you begin contemplating the 10am “gigs” on a weekday at Kedron Wavell Services Club…

Hmmm why wasn’t my wife there? She’s a Reyne-aholic along with our former neighbour. We’ll see you the next time as I think she’s got me a ticket

The solar oven up in the Pyrenees. It is a science project run by the French Army. The sun reflects from the mirror panels into the dish, which then reflects back to a focal point in the middle. That is where the oven is. The temperature in the oven reaches 6000 degrees Centigrade. The project is to find a way of disposing of items that currently do not degrade or cannot be burned. Think a pile of car tyres that will instantly disintegrate into dust.

And old array is set up inside the walled village. It is used by potters to fire their pots in two and a half hours instead of 6, and they cool down in the oven overnight. This system started by using one of the searchlights from WW2. They have a curved mirror at the base.

You can see the dish reflect in this mirror panel.

For a bit of fun, here is your new barbecue! The sun’s rays and heat are reflected up to cook your meat.

I mistakenly posted in A bit of humour. Sorry about that!

In my clients “office” now with a view like this - how does he do work here?

My first job in investment banking in Sydney, aged 34 I think, I scored a window office in Goldfields House, on Circular Quay. Very much like this, but higher floor (22). I caught the Many ferry to and from work every day.

I thought I had made it :) . Unfortunately from there my offices in Sydney got progressively further away from the harbour and lower floors :(

The “office” to make our way through the Pyrenees, “The Little Yellow Train”. Beautiful scenery and wonderful views. There are still many little villages scattered throughout the mountains.
I went on that train in the open carriage on a sunny July day in 1988. I loved it and have dreamt about it ever since.
The thing I enjoyed most was the local workers and families getting on, having a big chat and then getting off a station or two later to find farewells. Good to see it still going.

I had an office like that in Export House, just around the corner in Pitt St, with views out over the Ship inn. Had to turn my desk around so I faced into the office to concentrate on what I was being paid to do.
