The view from my "office"

re: The view from my "office"

jukebox333 you must be one of the faithful they are talking about here -

Bruce Springsteen and the mega-fans who tour the world to see him
We saw him just the once - fantastic concert in Melbourne a few years back. Rod Laver is a great concert venue as it is not too large and so the seats are usually pretty good. I don't like it when artists return and the concerts are scheduled for much larger stadiums - seem to lose the atmosphere a bit IMO.

I'm not sure I could bring myself to see him without the magical big man of sax, Mr Clarence Clemons

Yes, indeed - perhaps not quite that extreme... but close (read on!). 2nd row for the 1st night, front row for Wednesday and last night.

Agree. I decided I'd do a rock and roll road trip with my son this time, but don't want to go to the outdoor or large venues, so we are off the both BNE shows as well in a fortnight (QFF points for travel and accom made it viable)

His nephew (Jake) *nailed* the sax solo in Jungleland on Wednesday night. Clarence's ghost was in the room

Yes, he was great. I have a feeling that Steven Van Zandt wasn't on tour at the concert we attended as he was otherwise occupied but I may be mistaken there.

He's certainly here this time - in great spirits:

Man oh man, Stevie is back. I had it in the back of my mind that he had called it quits. I'm sure he missed some gigs.

Thanks for the pics, looks great. I remember the huge horseshoe stage of the eighties and Clarence would run from one arm to the other. Absolutely fantastic concerts. I seem to recall seeing them at QE2 in Brisvagas and the next morning jumping on QF flight to SIN then LHR.....or maybe it was Dire Straits. Can't remember.

Thanks - it was.

I caught a train 9hrs from Edinburgh to Kings Cross to go to a special Dire Straits show at the Hammersmith Odeon in 1988... and all the back the next day. But that's another story. :-)

Whilst the east coast of Australia is expected to swelter today, #1 son is halfway through an SR in Trumpistan.
About to board an AA flight from ORD to BOS this morning, he sent this photo of an AA plane being de-iced:

re: The view from my "office"

From a few days ago:
Returning back to civilisation after a couple of weeks trekking to Everest Base Camp, I was lucky enough to get the best seat in the 15 seat Dornier 228 flying out of Lukla airport.
Lukla airport is a designated STOL strip, often referred to as "the most dangerous in the world" (although from my very limited experience, the description is perhaps a little over-blown).
For the technically minded readers, wikipedia states: The runway is 527 m (1,729 ft) × 30 m (98 ft) with a 11.7% gradient. The airport's elevation is 9,334 ft (2,845 m).

And a little bit of the scenery along the way...

My younger son parasailing over Himalayas from Nepal. They did not tell me the day it was to be done. It was MrP's idea.

How absolutely incredible is that! You've just been pushed pretty high up my most "sick" list. Wow...Thanks for posting! Bloody great!

Gosh. Thanks. I have a video of them so might upload to YouTube - I think I took it for granted :o

re: The view from my "office"

Did they have any previous paragliding experience/training?? Would love to do it.

None. But both are very coordinated. They also did 3 day camel trek in Rajasthan desert on the same trip.
