Mt Fuji from the cable car at Hakone just now. Cloud closed in by the time I reached the top.

That water just kept rising. Lost power about 8.30pm and at 5am SES knocked on the door and suggested we evacuate as the Albert River was in total flood and could reach us.
About 8am we agreed and left via the neighbour's house.
Power restored about 3pm so back home via next door. No water in the house
Water is receding but still cannot get our cars out

The golf course is somewhere there

It sounds like you have been very lucky Major. Hope the waters go down quickly for you. Watching from down south it is almost unbelievable.

I did that trip John - the day jolly from Tokyo that involves train, rack railway, cable car(s), boat, bus, and train... fog and cloud meant that whilst we saw late blooming Cherry Blossoms, we never actually sighted Mt.Fuji - which was rather disappointing!

And a quick shot of the Indian Ocean for DrRon. :D

Today's sunset, and yesterday;'s for good measure. We have a large bushfire blowing smoke out to sea, assisting mother nature

Portrait Resturaunt, National Portrait Gallery, London.

Very pleasant office to watch the sun set, and the approach flights to LCY.

Food's not bad either.

Try the Whistler at the old Tate. Tate Britain. Plus fabulous wine list! Go for lunch.

I know, I was seriously tempted by the Barolo Dinner there tonight- but we are off on a road trip early in the morning- it will have to be next time...

The Portrait was good for an early dinner before seeing Damian Lewis and Sophie Okonedo in The Goat, or who is Sylvia? -a great night out.

The view from our office today is Auckland harbour.

The view from our bathroom today is Radiance of the Seas.

Oh! I would jump at the chance. Silvia Altare is one of the new young 'heros' of Barolo. She's very entertaining and tells a great story. Had the pleasure of a winery visit a few years ago. (OT: Grab a copy of the Barolo Boys movie on the development of Barolo and the four original young 'turks' of the region.)

I just read on the news that one of the people missing in SEQ is a long time friend of mine and a mentor from my early business days. I hope his resilience that I've witnessed over the years, will come through for him again.

Sadly, just after I posted the above, I received an email to say his body has been recovered. Terrible news.
