Yes. It's running just under a week later than average this year. It's been cold and wet, and we had quite a lot of snow at Hakone last week. Quite clear and warm now.

Just found a helpful list of predicted blooms online. https://www.kyuhoshi.com/japan-cherry-blossom-forecast/

I think our best bet will be to do a day trip (or two!) from Tokyo to Nagano and surrounding areas.

Hopefully we might get a decent glimpse.

I am. Looks sensational. We are staying right across the river from the Peace Park. Will be there in about one month.

The okononmiyaki restaurants can be a little tricky to find. They are often up a few floors and the whole floor is given over to a group of them. Ask at your hotel. I stayed just over the river from the Peace Park. Walk over to the large covered mall, along about two sections, turn right, then left into about the second street and up a couple of floors.

Another cluster is on the 4th floor of a building across and to the right from the main Hiroshima train station on the same side as the No. 2 tram that will, from your description, take you to your hotel. A few of us went there the following night and thought it was a little better than the first one. In that case it was the one located at the far back right on floor 4. Look for a very cheerful chubby guy doing the cooking.

There are plenty of monitoring and prediction sites. Sakura is taken very seriously and is big business.

In a month, you'll need to direct northwards to get the later regions peaking.

A good okinomiyaki place I discovered a few years ago was above a hobby shop called Yellow Submarine. Every wall was covered in framed photos and autographs of the Hiroshima Carp baseball team. Very cool.

I think that's the one I referred to that's near the main station.
