The view from my "office"

Snooped around The Chedi in Oman tonight.

An excellent Mojito cut through the evening warmth, followed by a sensational dinner at The Beach restaurant. But Oman ain't cheap... . However, after lean times in Ethiopia and Egypt, and with totally dry times to come in Iran, a splurge was in order .

Another day another wine area and another Castle hotel in Spain - Residencia Real Castillo de Curiel.

Quite gaudy but exceptionally interesting. Thanks for the pics. I'd hate to think how much that burl bedhead is and I can't work out the top of the wall above the lounge (or whatever that thing is called) in your room. The wall looks flat, but the top tends to suggest there is a corner or a pitch, but that doesn't seem to work with the little side return wall?? Any tips as to what is actually happening there?

Don't quite understand the question really. It's was essential a rectangular room with three steps up to a window and window seat.

The place was interesting but a little too cutesy for our liking. Bed wasn't very comfortable. Bathroom was quite pokey but it's what one tends to get in Castles. :)

The room looks to be furnished in a similar way to the ones in hotels in places like Cusco where we have stayed. Lots of furniture, rugs etc, though a little over the top.

Yep, Cairns it is. Taken from a H-CNS balcony, and by the shadows, I'm just wondering why kermatu is not down at Mondo's with a huge glass of Squealing Pig, relaxing water-side!!
Yes, Cairns sorry.

Exactly 7 minutes later I was being served an acceptable sauvignon blanc by the lovely Sayhl (helping Naoki that night) in the lounge.

The view over the Dead Sea from the stunning new Hilton Resort! Today I swam in the sea, covered myself in the mud and relaxed by the pool. One more thing ticked off the bucket list! A great way to mark the half way point on our trip.

Amazing there isn't anyone in the pool..
