Today at the office was some hiking in Saxon-Swiss National Park east of Dresden, near the Czech border. Lovely fairly sunny mild day.




And a traditional simple German lunch (except for the beer) cooked on a BBQ in the beer garden. I don't hike well on beer, so stuck to the water.

Last night I stumbled upon a very good restaurant in Dresden near the cathedral. Normally tourist-trap territory but this was different. I see from TripAdvisor that it comes up at 5 of about 700 restaurants in Dresden.

Went back tonight and here is the view from the office:

Amuse bouche: venison terrine:



Starter: prawns with white tomato something:



Main: rump steak with mustard, roast potatoes and onions:



Desert: creme brulee with Williams pears:



Small, but tidy, wine list. Had a Gruner Veltliner with the starter and a Languedoc red with the steak.

View from the office yesterday coming home to Sydney to spend the day with someone special.

A bit of variation in the office today. Visited the VW 'transparent factory' in Dresden where they do the final assembly of VW Phaeton limos and some Bentleys. Couldn't take any photos inside but this is a glimpse from outside:



There are cars stacked up inside that tower.

Next to it is the Great Park where I went for a stroll on a very nice day.




Then I visited Colditz Castle, the famous WW2 POW prison.



Tonight, the last night on land of my DONE5, is in Leipzig. Georgeous city. Had dinner on the most beautiful little platz in town. Just a cafe/wine bar but I opted for location over food tonight because it was so nice.

Early autumn, so the weather is starting to change. But the crowds have diminished. Hit the sweet spot!



Drive to Berlin in the morning, then TXL on BA xLHR on CX xHKG on CX xMEL to PER on QF. Home Thursday afternoon.

OMG, pure leisure travel
Is goooood .

The office next week will be the beach . Weather reports show PER is on the cusp of summer. Woo, hoo .

My work laptop, mobile phone and car keys have been handed over to my replacement so I should be able to contribute some pictures of my 'preferred' office over the next month.
