The view from my "office"

My view this morning was bad news:

Not strictly a view but as I’m only up to Japan in my TR I thought I’d post it here so anyone travelling to HNL in the next week is aware.

The view from our office in Zaandam, Netherlands and the view of our office.

All the buildings in this modern area have been modelled on the traditional houses, which can still be found in the original villages around here.

The building with the clock is a railway station. Some years ago we were on a train passing through and Mrs jxv said that one day she wanted to stay in the funny looking hotel. Today is that day!

Our children and grandchildren are also travelling through Europe and we spent last week together in the Netherlands.

Here we all are in our office in Volendam, an old fishing village where traditional clothing is now only found in tourist shops to have ridiculous photos taken.

Russian adventure playground. That is not a rope to hold onto. Just self balance along the tree trunk, and 4m to the ground.

As the view forward is west towards PERfection, that means this view must be east towards PERdition (aka The Highway to Hell - apologies to AC//DC) ;):p:p. Hyuk, hyuk...

And on to the eastern side of the Darling Scarp and Wandoo forest on the lateritic soils. That transitions to Jarrah and Marri forest further west but the light ran out.

Thursday last week we made Madurodam in Den Haag (The Hague) our office, a miniature village depicting scenes from around the Netherlands, mainly for the enjoyment of our grandchildren.

The first photo shows the Dam in Amsterdam. There is also a miniature version of AMS airport. The seagull didn’t like the SQ A380 and left a deposit on it.

Check in ( I eventually summoned my inner DYKWIA and approached the front of the queue to ask for business check-in and was waived forward :) )
