The view from my "office"

We timed things perfectly for arrival in Ravensburg, driving in just as darkness hit - the market really lit up and the crowds started to get busier and busier. There was a building that was turned into a large advent calendar (it had 24 painted window openings) too, each day there was a big ceremony to unveil the window - we were there to see 20 open up.

Absolutely gorgeous. Sigh.

And where might that be?

Still Cradle Mountain

1st is Kyvnet Falls. About 45min return walk from just before park entrance. I was disappointed in it to be honest The walk is manageable for the fat and unfit but I enjoyed other walks more. Maybe because you don't get a front waterfall view

2nd is Pencil Pines falls from the same walk beginning but you turn right at a fork and it only takes about 10mins return . There are stairs so not stroller friendly but again, this fat and unfit made it so doable for 99% of others

Park in front of the overpriced Peppers shop, where the only day spa around here exists. They have a over priced ($120 for 60min) hot tub and plunge pool experience but I made do with our cabin spa pool.

Peppers.

Is there a door to block off the spa from the rest of the cabin?

No but it's quite private as it has a structure surrounding it so only if you're standing next to it do you see inside the bath. You don't see inside from anywhere else in the cabin

This is me just now, lying on bed reading while hubby is watching Nigella on the other side.

The cabin is for 2 and has a separate bathroom with shower ect

Peppers used to be plain Cradle Mountain Lodge. They used to bring fruit out to feed the critters on the verandah there. Also used to have a big pond stocked with trout and rods you could dry cast with. If you caught it ( legal size) and had a licence you could keep it.

I fondly enjoy remembering the mate who was demonstrating his casting technique with a glassof red in one hand ( one of many had before!) and, of course, losing his balance to go face first into the water. :). Must find those photos.

The first time when it was plain cradle mt lodge. Also when it was peppers and the wilderness lodge.

Which would you choose for another visit?

I think the wilderness lodge. But my fave place is Corrina ! That is really a get away still with a bit of comfort :)
stay in a converted miners house. The pub for diner. The cruise to the beach and the walks in the bush ! And you know i am not the outdoorze type! !
GREAT photo ops at every turn.
